You guys ready for the season? Decent dump supposedly coming this Saturday.
My sled is finally in good shape again after replacing the whole right side spindle/arms, new Fox Floats, new idler bearings, torsion springs, etc etc...but I'm ready for snow!

Hopefully we get some snow in southern NH this year. Baker River Valley has a Pittsburg-like trail system and it's a treat to not trailer the sleds 2-3 hours to ride.
Is your shop filled with smoke or is that just a fuzzy pic?
That would be 2-stroke smoke![]()

Don't ya love that smell. The smell thats all around you
This MAY just be the year for me...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Mine is ready to go. Just have to unload it off the trailer, pull the rope and go.
What a small world. It's funny hearing you guys talk of Baker River. I sold my sled about 5 years ago while in college since I didn't have time to use it, but I would spend most of my winters at my Uncle's in Dorchester/Rumney during my teen years. His girlfriend is actually the President of the club.
But yes, the trails there are awesome.![]()
unfortunately my sled is down for the count...and other hobbies dont exactly leave enough cash to get her back up and runnin! but i hope you guys take full advantage of the snow!
Huh...The Baker River Valley was my favorite spot as well and I never met another rider who knew about it. The trails out there are amazing, and if you know your way around you can go a long ways.
If there's enough snow, the best thing to do is hit the rail bed along 93 out of Boscawen. You end up in Tilton. Then you head up into Paugus Bay. From there you can head north into Ashland where the great riding begins and the possibilities are endless. It makes for a great ride that starts just a few minutes north of Concord.
Right on BSR6. Heading northwest from Bridgewater is some great riding.
The clubs in that area... Hebron, Groton, etc. do an outstanding job grooming. Anyone who has been involved in a club knows how much time and effort these volunteers put into the trails... all year!
Hope I can get some time in on my Buds sled as I sold mine like a DUMBASS.....

Took the sled around the yard last night. It wasn't exactly the best shakedown run, but there's already a few problems I need to address. First and foremost is to get the pressure right in these Fox Floats, the sled was picking up the inside ski way too much.

I sold my sled too a few years ago. Just like a MC, setting the suspension makes a ton of difference in riding fast on the trails. I had the same sled as my brother in law and I could run circles around him. I miss it, but not enough to justify a new toy that has to be towed somewhere to use... especially in the Republic of Massachusetts...
I can't wait. But the sled is 3 hours away from me.![]()

Last weekend I went out and pulled on my sled for a while with no luck.
So then I turned the gas on and pulled some more.
It started! I tried to move it but it bogged and stalled.
Treid to start it again and the rope broke! I swore a lot and ordered a new rope.
I hear its a bitch of a job but Ill try to tackle it tomorrow.

Replacing the recoil starter rope on my 02 ZR 800 was super easy when I did the same thing. It took probably an hour at most. The hardest part was holding the recoil with tension while trying to reinstall it, but that really wasn't that hard.
Might not be as easy on the Polaris, but I don't know.

Nah, im sure its just the recoil spring that's a bitch. Im sure I can handle it.
Moving ours to bear brook for the season on saturday. Hopefully this year it's worth the cost of registration. These days I'm lucky to get north but once a year![]()
Try not to take the recoil apart. Fighting that spring is a bitch once it comes out of the cover. Remove any old rope, wind the spring back up, lock the pulley so it won't spin, fish in the new rope, tie knot then release the pulley and let it pull the rope back in.
You can usually wedge a paint stick between the pulley and the housing to lock the pulley while fishing in the new rope.
Also be sure to add a few extra winds on the spring to compensate for the tension you'll lose when it pulls the new rope in.

Thanks for the tips!
And leave it long after a few pulls and recoils then cut it to size......ask me how I know.....LOLOLOLZ
and I always keep a replacement on the sled just in case....has come in handy a few times.
