Holy shit. When I lived in Albuquerque we used to do "peak runs" up Sandia. That mountain was 10,000 and change and v8's felt like riding mowers near the top. I can't imagine that bike making any power up there. Congrats!

Yeah that's no supercharged kawi, for sure. It's a Bajaj avenger, 220 cc single cylinder carbureted, makes 19 peak hp at sea level and it was struggling up those roads for sure. But that's part of the adventure! The pass itself is 40 km of windy mountain roads in either direction about 1.5 car widths wide filled with trucks that don't stay in their lane and crazy taxis with no suspension or sense. The last 10-15 km on either side of the pass is dirt, stones, and ruts, and there were a few rivers of ice across the road towards the top. So yeah, pretty much the most challenging but also the most fun ride I've ever done on a streetbike. It's motorcycle heaven up there, you could easily spend a month there just exploring all the twists and turns. We only had 7 days on the bike but that was still a hell of a lot of fun.

Oh yeah, and we did it two up, with Kerin carrying a 30 lb backpack the whole way. She's pretty tough Roof of the world-sam_1772-jpg

    Fuck me...that's awesome!

Were you light headed? When I did Pikes Peak (14,115 feet) I definitely felt it. And that was an easy half hour ride up and down...
