July 15 Yellow Group video

Don't really know who's in this.
Maybe you can identify yourselves. Excuse the shaky video.
Someone in white leathers flys by at the 1:30 mark.

At the end Renee is looking in fine form. Referring to her riding that is!
Seriously her form is good.

Take note. All she needs to do now when she's ready is the twist that right wrist a bit more. And she'll be flying.

Re: July 15 Yellow Group video

Renee runs RED group... that is definitely not Yellow.

She was very unhappy with her riding Wednesday. She took the ARC course the day before and was trying to incorporate all of it into her normal routine... and I think it slowed her down. (not to mention she did the course on a borrowed bike with standard shift... so had to switch back)

Anyway, I told her that it's the old, go slow to go fast. She has to relearn a few things and then add the speed back in.

Alright, I was feeling kinda bad, since it'll take me at least a week to get any video up from this week. Since it took you a whole year, I feel a bit better.

Akira, nice try!!! haha....

Do you have any of that video you were taking of me in yellow from the first day before I bumped?

I'd love to see it. I know some of it didn't come out right due to camera alignment though.

Re: July 15 Yellow Group video

So... who's the Ducati with Red and White leathers at the very beginning?

Come on... fess up.

Nothing rule breaking, but your body movements are too late and too abrupt.

Going into 3, you noticeably hop off the seat at or almost after the turn in point. Your butt cheek should have been in place long before then... so that all you would have had to do is lean your upper body.

The turn in point is when you are making a firm steering input... you don't want to also be doing a huge body movement.

Coming out of the corner, as you go up the hill, you once again "hop" back into the seat. Once again, this is a time when you should be dialing in maximum throttle and paying close attention to what the rear wheel is doing... definitely not the time to be hopping around.

Try to set up earlier going into the corners... and use your leg muscles and core muscles to slowly ease your way back to the middle of the seat.

Re: July 15 Yellow Group video

Actually, just watched it again and noticed something new.

When the rider "hops" back into the seat in Turn 4... watch how it immediately pushes the bike to the left.

Basically, you should be staying with your butt cheek off to the right, and accelerating so hard that the natural tendency is for the bike to end up on the left half of the track.

In other words, don't purposely ride to the X on the left... drive out of turn 4 in such a manner that you end up there.

.............

For anyone who definitely wants some video of themself, COME SEE me in the garage during the day! I can't promise I can always get everyone who asks, but at least if you introduce yourself, show me your bike, and tell me what group you're in, I'll try and keep my eyes out for you. Keep in mind that the video I take goes to the classroom first, so if you think I was behind you for awhile, make sure you head to the classroom if you hear your instructors call the group in there.

Cool... What do you ride and how do I know it is you? Also, if I look like a Jacka$$ can I pay you off so you don't show it in the classroom?

You'd have to pay off your group's instructors, all I do is hand them the tapes.

Me:

I'm generally in the opposite corner of the garage from where Tony and the Gatorade are set up.(Garage 7?) Bike is a blue R6, has "Mr. Kurtz" on the left headlight. Best bet is to come introduce yourself in the morning, since most of the video used in the classroom happens earlier in the day. It's amazing how few people actually come up and ask me to try and get some video of them, yet how many people say they wish there was some video of them after the fact. I don't bite, I don't promise to always get video of everyone who asks, I do promise to try.

Thanks a lot dude!!!

I actually remember this, I think it was right before lunch on Tuesday in yellow... we went out and about two laps in the red flag came out

Later in the day I think you tried to align your camera better and took a much longer video of me because you wanted to show it to the class, but then the alignment was even worse

No worries... let's get much more video in august

That actually started as a practical joke aimed at me, but I liked it too much for it to work. I'm hoping to see some bigger ones for August.

Re: July 15 Yellow Group video

Thanks Mr Kurtz. The Mr Kurtz written on your headlight is a dead giveaway. I'll be sure to introduce myself. I will be on a 97 yellow and black gixxer600 that my girlfriend named "Shreck" because of its good looks

There is a lot of information to digest. A good way to work on it is just like the exercises: Break it down and work on each piece for a few laps. Vision, Turn-ins, prepositioning the body...Then start putting them together. Just what you teach Tony, slow down and work on the technique. Speed is a byproduct of good technique and confidence. The more comfortable you get with the techniques, the more you relax, the faster you end up going. Repetition is key (build muscle memory) to get good at anything. We encourage everyone to practice these techniques everytime they ride so the techniques become part of your everyday riding. Not that you hang off on the street, just go through all the steps before each turn, even if you only lean you body in an inch or two. Make it Habit.
