RC51 in Medfield

Picked up a used RC51 from middleboro in late may, got it on the road early June. I have about 800 miles on it so far. I use it to commute to Worcester for work a lot.

I love the thing to pieces. Needs a little work, but thats okay.

So far I put stock bar ends back on (none when I got it), but the center stem cap on, changed the oil, changed the blinkers from blue to amber, tightened the chain a ton, ne exhaust gasket, and I have a read LED brakelight on order, which actually should be in today.

Its got m4 cans and a fuel commander.

It needs a new chain and sprockets, and a radiator flush. I want to do the chain myself, but Ill need a stand and a chain breaker/rivet tool, so its gonna cost me. i think I will hold off until this winter for $$$ reasons, but I am not too happy with how the chain looks.

maybe it was you that I saw last Tuesday... riding east on Rt9 and then taking a right hand turn onto Lyman Drive.

You can always borrow a chain tool from someone.

That was me, I drive home from work that way. I would love to possibly borrow a chain tool this summer!

I gotta buy a stand for sure.

I am in medfield which is south of framingham, I commute about an hour to worcester, but I get to take nice windy roads through hopkinton and ashland so it isnt too bad.

EDIT: Id love to go ride sometime, I dont really have anyone to ride with down here, I moved from Maine about 1.5 yrs ago.

I BELIEVE it has the flapper mod and soft rev mods done already. i know it has a fuel commander and pipes obviously. Gearing appears to be stock as well.

When I'm not on the RC, I'm thrashing on my other whore

minus the red lip on the wheel, tragic tire changing incident, same wheels, just no red.

Subies ftw, not many cars that can go that fast, handle that good, and drive year round.

Just how the car is above, I put on the stock wheel with aggressive snows and it is a tank in the snow

You might want to consider the 520 sprocket and chain conversion . Besides the Power Commander , the 520 conversion made the biggest improvement in the bike by far...

Much more info ( all you could possibly need ) is on ROGUE ( .org )...

I looked into the 520 conversion, and I was under the impression it wouldnt last nearly as long, why do you say it made such an improvement? And I am not looking for all out performance, I mostly commute on it.

Stealth 520 Conversion kit w/ D.I.D. 520ERV3 Race Chain- HONDA - Sprocket Center

This is what you're looking for...longevity is not an issue . It makes the bike's shift points much more streetable and smoother . You've heard this before but ' trust me '...you will not regret it...

Isnt a 520 a smaller chain? Why is it better, because its lighter?

edit: you have piqued my interest :o

Its the gearing that makes it better. It is smaller but also lighter, less rotating mass....bla bla bla.....but the gearing is what makes it ride more friendly.

Thanks, I have been to that site. I printed the soft rev mod yesterday. not necessarily to do it, but to try to figure out if it had been done to my bike or not.

I have a bit of time this week and next week I think. If you want you can bring the bike by and we can see what has been done and what can be done to it. You can also see what can be done to them when you look at mine.

As for the 520 conversion. Ive done it with a gearing change. As long as you buy quality parts and dont bottom feed for the cheap stuff it will last fine. My sprockets still look new when I clean them. The chain looks good it has stretched a little bit but its also been on the track and its well in the green.

With you at 6'4 and 240lbs Im going to look like a midget next to you. You have 10 inches and 65lbs on me.

Let me know if you want to come by. This weekend might be perfect.
