Add another VTer to the list...

Hey everyone, Mark here, located in Burlington, VT. I ride a caffeinated '01 Triumph Bonneville. I've also got an '03 Honda XR650L dual-sport, but I haven't decided yet whether to hold onto it or sell it and buy a sport-touring bike.

I'm usually free to ride on weekends if anyone wants to head out for a while.

Hi, I am in Richmond and work in Williston. I'd be interested in doing some weekend, and weekday riding.

I see other people share my opinion of the Road That Shall Not Be Named. It's too good to publicize.

And yeah, I'm down with 300-350 mile day rides. Lots of great roads to explore in upstate NY, as long as you manage to avoid all the staties, and it's always fun to head east and ride the Kancamagus Highway. Not so much for the Kanc itself (too many tourists and Harleys going slow) but for the roads getting there.

I was on the kanc saturday, and I sure do know some good roads over there It actually wasn't too bad traffic wise, but I've seen it bad.

******* road in NY has me currious. I wonder if I've been on it. I've been over to lake placid and that area quite a few times.

Hey most of the guys around here, their idea of "riding" is around town. so, who knows. just checkin to make sure people ride the bikes instead of putting through town randomly whacking an unloaded motor to the limiter.
ah the things you see in barre

Slyder, riding around town revving the engine isn't riding, it's posing.

Actually, this pic isn't quite accurate anymore. I've got different mufflers now, I've removed the saddlebag brackets, and the header wrap has faded. I took some new pics a couple weeks ago but haven't gotten around to downloading them off the camera yet. I'll try to do that tonight.

Mark...were you up on RT 17 with that not too long ago? your bike looks really damn familiar. There was a fellow on a yellow Buel, and another guy on a green kawi ex-500 that same day and I came along and stopped to. I remember the triumph was the same color as yours and the headers were wrapped (no idea if this is standard or not)

sweet bike though. I'd not mind having one myself

Thanks guys.

Slyder, yeah, that was probably me. I stopped off at the App Gap this past Saturday before heading to a friend's bbq in Huntington, but you probably spotted me the Saturday before that. I was riding with a bunch of folks from my Triumph RAT pack. Headed over the App Gap in the morning with two Daytona 675s (a graphite one and a yellow one). Stopped at the gas station by the 17/100 intersection and met up with three more folks on a Speed Triple, a black Bonnie, and an old BMW. From there we headed down 100, over the Middlebury Gap (Rt125), stopped for lunch at the A&W in Middlebury, then down Rt 7 to Brandon, across the Brandon Gap (Rt73 -- finally repaved!!!), over to Bethel, up Rt 12 to the Rochester Gap, almost got creamed by a pickup truck, headed down into Rochester, and hooked up with 100 north and back across the App Gap. Great ride.

And yeah, I saw the green Kawi. Three times -- once while waiting for the two Daytonas in Burlington, again when he turned off for gas in Hinesburg, and then again while we were waiting for the three other folks in Waitsfield.

Ahhh nice, I've ridden all of those roads, many times. Infact the day I was up at the app gap, I rode bethel mtn road (over to Bethel, up Rt 12 to the Rochester Gap) that's a great road but the rain took its toll on the road recently.

When I was at the app gap, I think if it was you, you were alone.

If you're ever looking for excellent food...the old hancock hotel at the junction of rt 125 and rt 100 is most excellent...and the prices are really good. When we ride to NY, it's not uncommon to see a couple of gixxers and whomever else might be with us, sitting out front. Gotta have a decent breakfast for the all day events.

absolutely love the sound those bonnies make. yummy.

You may have just thought I was alone because the Daytonas were some distance behind me. I tend to lose them in the twisties. (And yes, I find the irony priceless.)

I'm pretty certain it was me you spotted though. If there were any other green/silver Bonnies with wrapped pipes around here, I'm pretty sure I'd know about it.

Sounds good. If the weather doesn't suck this weekend, I may end up riding through there at some point. But the main objective will be Rt 140 down south of Rutland.
