Greetings from Concord, NH!

Hey everyone, this is my first season riding, and I just found these boards today actually, looking for a new seat for my bike.

Bought my SV in June I think, and it looked like this

without having set foot (ass?) on a motorcycle. Yeeeeeah, it needed some help.

Taught myself, mostly, did some reading online, and spent some time in the saddle. Passed my DMV test after failing it once back in July, and been putting miles on slowly ever since.

Here's what my bike looks like now:

new seat for one of the most comfortable bikes out there? my opinion its not worth the money to get a new seat. youll spend the money and have just the same feel as you have now. go sit on some of the new bikes where its like your riding on a piece of plywood youll love your seat after that.

On pretty much anything over an hour, I completely lose feeling in my ass, and after reading (and posting a bit) in a few SV communities, that's pretty much the consensus.

At this point, I've heard Corbin's are the way to go, but they're $230 or something. Oh well, we'll see..

Thanks It took me a few weeks, but it really helped to make the bike feel 'mine'. I painted the fender, changed the headlights with a kit from Motorcycle Dual Headlight Kits and bought a Buell Lightning flyscreen for like $60. All told, about $280 went into making it look decided less ass-like.

Nice job on the front end! Looks clean and trick.

Not sure if you plan on doing any trackdays, but I hear Corbins are lousy for that.

Because they are so "dished", they inhibit you from moving side to side.

Hmm, at this point, I'm probably going to stick with road riding (I should have probably gotten Michelin Pilot Roads instead of Pilot Powers, so they'd last longer... theoretically) for now, since this is just my first year, but you never know.

I hadn't heard that about the Corbin seats though, I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I just need some more seat time and my ass and the seat will come to an understanding.

Hey man, I drive through there occasionally, some nice roads in the area, too. I actually just got back from visiting my family in Bradford.

No problem. If you want to meet a bunch of people from this site at one time, stop in at the next Trackday, September 18th. We'll be having a little "party" that night at the track as well. It's free to come in during the trackday, and only $20 for the party.

More details available by clicking on my sig file banner.

PS... Got a big house? You could make some extra money renting rooms the night before trackdays.

Dude, where in Concord are you? My Wife has an SV, i have a Yamaha YZF and we are right here in town.

Nice job on the recovery of that bike, you saved it from whatever else the previous owner was going to do to it next, it should be very grateful.

Well, my husband already semi-introduced me, (see above) but nice to see another from Concord, and another SV at that! Welcome to the site.

Hey, some Concord folks! Nice to meet you both.. or, well, you know what I mean. Thanks for the feedback, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.. I think the story I got was that it used to be an SV650S, the owner prior to my seller banged it into something and sold it like that. New forks, headlight unit, mounted gauges and it worked for them, but not for me!

Here's another pic I took (with my old mirrors, I ended up putting the stockers back on) up by Carter Hill Orchards, taken with my cellphone, and mucked around with in photoshop a bit!

I live a bit north of town, almost to Penacook. And you guys?

I'll keep an eye out for you both around town.. I've got a flat-black helmet, a black and white MotoGP jacket, and usually a red backpack, too. Got pics of your bikes handy?

Hah, I'm actually at Concord Commons.. Do you guys park your bikes in.. lets see.. the northeast corner of the lot, right by where Mayflower Dr comes in? I thought I saw an SVS there in the corner of the lot.

That's pretty funny.

cool, we'll all have to get together sometime for a little ride. Are you busy Sunday AM (before the game)? We could do a quick trip around the area, but we're having people over for the game, so should be back by noon.

That's quite possible, yeah.. I'd probably want to be back around then as well, as I may have some driving to do to get to where I'm watching, myself.

edit: actually, I'm not sure about her, it depends on the location of her daughter. I should be able to make it, regardless.

For what it's worth...
I had a Corbin saddle on my last bike. A Suzuki TL1000s. I loved that saddle!
Huge improvement! Well worth the money!
There was a thread about this around here somewhere...

Ah ha! Search is your friend!!!

Thanks for the thoughts on the saddle, Jank! Ideally I'd love to try them both, but I don't think that'll happen.

Although, I suppose I could order one of each, try them and return whichever one I didn't like..
