Hello

Just saying hello and hoping to meet some other local riders.

Been riding since college (17 years or so). Many bikes between now and then, but just one bike I really miss and wish I still had ('89 Hawk GT)

Today, I've got a K1200S for my longer trips and a Daytona 675 for my short blasts. There was a time I used to think two bikes were a ridiculous waste, but now I'm thinking its one shy of being the perfect stable

I frequent a bunch of other boards depending which bike I'm looking for answers on (I-BMW, 675.net, ADV etc).

I've got a great collection of riding friends from the various sites, but our locations are so dispersed, it makes meeting for rides a challenge. I'm hoping that this site can help in that regard.

I often see DucDave's(?) rides posted @ Seacoast Cycle(got my wife's 250 scooter there), and I will at some point go on one of these. The ride reports are always entertaining.

looking forward to some warm weather...after this ski trip....

kevin

Welcome! I might be able to help you with your Hawk GT dilemia.

There are quite a few Hawkers on here.

Hola....look forward to meeting you! (With that Beemer in your stable you might want to consider a CST sometime too...!)

So...3rd bike? GS? KLR? or something dedicated to the track???

Welcome aboard !

Heh, I do lurk there occasionally. It was my first "new" bike and it replaced a ratty, poorly maintained (by me) 74 Kawi H1. To say it was a revelation would be an understatement. I haven't ridden one in almost 15 years, so I'm hoping that my memory of it isn't completely overglorified (e.g. my recent shamrock shake experience)

Hmm, what is this CST you speak of? I tried search, but my search-fu is weak.

RE: 3rd bike will be an dual sport bike of some sort. I have a deposit down on an F800GS, but the delayed release from March to Sept may be a problem. I'll revisit the KLR and KTM contenders. Its tricky finding the right size+tank range.

My 675 is my default track bike, but I'm just not ready to make that a full time switch.

Over by Joppa Hill Farm. It's nice, but I'm sure my neighbors hate me because I ride "one of those motorcycles". I try to ride slowly and stay ninja quiet in my neighborhood.

No shit! That's my old 'hood. Back in the 70's, about 75% of those newer roads around there (probably where you live?) were old logging & fire roads, trails, pits and once discontinued roads. You'd be amazed at the dirty riding you could do out there at one time...
