Hi everyone

Hey,
I just got my permit, pretty new to bikes. I don't have a bike yet and I'm planning on taking the msf course in framingham one of these weekends (just gotta get to signing up). I'm pretty set on an sv650, just gotta find one around here. Anyways, see ya around

Re: Hi everyone

Pops t you for taking the MSF class, GREAT thinking! You are starting the right way, the smart way. Get some gear too (helmet, gloves and jacket at minimum). Good luck on finding your baby, and post up pics when you do! Welcome to NESR...

Yeah I've already been looking at gear online, its actually kind of fun looking for stuff i like, which is weird, cause I hate normal clothes shopping.

Recommended to me by multiple people, I don't want to start on a ninja 250, there aren't very many 500s (though if I saw a smoking deal on a naked gs500 I might pick that up), I love the naked bike look, my father started on a sv650 and it worked very well for him, etc etc.

My girlfriend may have a GS500 for sale in the next month or so. Red, '96, think she'll be asking $1500

by the way, if you wanna do the MSF course this year, you might wanna sign up, like... NOW They fill up FAST!

Don't get me wrong they are great bikes.

I agree a 250 can be too small. Have you thought about an older bike to start on or do you want a newer style? Pete's GS500 would be a good deal. You also might look into Honda Hawk GT's.

Just don't rule out an older 1st bike if it runs fine and you get a deal. You will dump it at one point.... You can upgrade it in a year or two.

Get out there and ride.

Re: Hi everyone

get an old, slow bike from the 80's and then when you go fast no one will know, but you can tell em you are going fast... best of both worlds

Re: Hi everyone

Well.. technically I've also had a few people recommend for me to start on a supersport, but I'm not going to do that. I know I'll drop it at some point, but I still am pretty set on either a gs or a sv. I haven't really seen any bikes form the 80's that I like the look of and yeah, I know I'll be learning and so I shouldn't be choosing a bike based on looks but I don't want to be riding around on an antique.

Re: Hi everyone

Antiques can be cool... You'll learn that.

All about the image. Make sure the bike you get has a LOUD pipe too.

Seriously sounds like you will do fine. Hope you get a bike soon! Good luck!
