Hello from a new rider!

I stumbled upon this place in my many google searches.

A week ago I picked up my first bike, a 2001 Katana 600. I am slowly learning to ride now, and am taking the BRC starting June 13th.

Also, I'm from central/southernish Connecticut.

Welcome to the madness! Congrats on your new passion and a big thumbs up on your signing up for the BRC. You joined this board which shows you have good taste...and signed up for BRC which shows you have good sense!

No lectures about wearing the right gear cus I'll bet you've already figured that out given that you're a smahtee!

I have an HJC helmet which came with the bike. I just purchased a teknik jacket and gloves. The pants and boots will have to wait a little bit. In the meantime, jeans and boots.

one thing i've always really liked about this forum, is how everyone is generally welcome to every rider on all various bikes. Many other general bike forums would throw in a comment about a Kan-a-tuna, or a 500 ninja rider being a sally. but here, everyone seems to like hearing new riders starting on smaller bikes, rather than picking on them.

I will admit I thought I might catch some flack for the tuna...

But this forums seems really great! It seems like it's all about the riding here.
