New to this forum...and pretty much to motorcycles...

The short version is that I managed to sneak into the MSF class in mid-May as a standby student and picked up a Ninja 250 a couple of weeks later. I live in Killington, Vermont (which makes the Donny's nights a bit of a haul, but I'll try to make it up there soon); when I'm busy at work, it's some combination of playing IT manager, ski coach, dorm supervisor, and teacher. However, I work at a ski academy, so it's not particularly busy in the summertime and I have plenty of time to ride (I've put about 2.5k on the Ninja since buying it).

Welcome I'm sure you'll love the 250. You'll outgrow it, but I kept mine and still putt around on it now and then!

Welcome!

You're in my neck of the woods! We will have to haul it up to Donny's soon. Hit me up when ever you want to ride.

Thanks, and agreed on Donny's. I'm actually in Maine this week visiting my folks (and wishing I had the new tires on the bike and not on a UPS truck, as my rear tire is not safely rideable at this point), but I'll definitely drop you a line once I get back (and have a rideable bike again).

I coach the weekend J1/J2 program (15-18-year-old racers who are not in the full-time academy program), since I'm teaching classes during the week when most of the full-time kids are training.

I've never once been cold on a sled. In fact, I always get back after a long day soaked in my own sweat, and steaming when I take my helmet off, and I've ridden in some pretty fuggin cold weather up in Greenville, ME.

Uhh, no. It's cold at first but after about 5 or 10 minutes of riding the layers start coming off.

I've been amazed by the quantity and variety of insect remains that I've cleaned off my helmet visor after riding through Vermont. The two worst were a butterfly that exploded all over the top of my helmet (glad it missed the visor because I wouldn't have been able to see much) and a bumblebee that bounced off my chest, landed on the front of my saddle, and writhed in pain until the next gas stop, when I noticed it. None in the jacket yet, although a couple have found their way into the helmet.

Meh. I really, really wish that I had my new tires on the bike instead of waiting for me back in Vermont (or that I had just a wee bit more rubber left on the rear).

Oh, well...since it's not safe to ride, I decided to at least roll it out of the garage and grab a pic of it in front of the neighbor's unused sugarhouse:
