Old Dude / First PostGreetings, all! You've all this story before: Rode for a bunch of years (25 in my case), gave it up for a bunch of years (2 in my case) and hated every minute of it (everybody's case). Kept the beater DR125 to keep the skills from getting too rusty, and just this past January, scored a mint SV1000S. Sweeeeet!! Copper, too! (Sorry: coppah! I forget my roots sometimes.) I've done four track days; loved 'em!! The best fun you can have in leather! Got rid of the RD, though. Always rode rice: GS450S, GS1000S (the original Katana), Vision 550, XS750 triple hot-rod, KE100, 750 Interceptor, and VF1000R. The RD400 was strictly for the track. Have managed to travel the entire east coast, but not real far west... yet! Work: I'm a banker by training, but have been with a consulting firm for the last nine years, and yes, I ride to work (when I'm at the office). Rides: I'll definitely get to one of these group rides. Re: Old Dude / First PostThanks, everyone! Yeah, Wrynne, the copper is just gorgeous (much like yourself! Cool pic.) No, I wasn't at the track day with the RD; I gave that to a buddy two years back. It was just amazing, though... when it was running. Still, it generated a ton of grins! Were you there three years ago when someone had a TZ750 (700 maybe?) there, Mike? I don't recall that it ever got running, but man, if it did.... I admit it, I love Thompson's writing. He was really at his best when he was castigating politicians. Hope to get to a ride real soon, so look for me there/then, D. How does the missus like the TL? I considered one, but figured the SV would be a better match for the street. The reputation for wheelies almost changed my mind, though... (Guess I'm not TOO old! G) Don T. |

Re: Old Dude / First PostHee! My mistake. The Acura's great. I've put over 72K on it in 48 months. My year was rated at 275 horse (or huss, in my old neigborhood), and it hauls. Corners like Schumacher, too. Watch out for potholes. I spent an obscene amount of money on replacing three wheels. Don't get Pirellis run-flats, either. I've had three of four of them fail in under two years. D |
