New Member in Danbury, CT

Hi all! My name is Shawn King and I've been riding for a little over 3 years (and 48,000 miles). I previously owned an '05 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe and, after a minor accident, the insurance company said, "Why don't you go buy yourself a new bike?"

The nice guys at Danbury (CT) Powersports were kind enough to let me take a brand new FJR off their hands. For only a few (hundred) dollars, they even gave me a new Arai helmet, too.

I picked it up in March and have been walking around with a big stupid grin on my face ever since! Completely different experience riding this bike and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Yeah it is! I'm having *stupid* amounts of fun on it. I just rolled over 13K miles yesterday and will put another couple hundred on it today in....3....2...1....NOW!

Thanks! I "crashed" my Royal Star Tour Deluxe at just the "right" time - my wife had just gotten a BMW F800ST so we didn't need the big touring cruiser for 2up or to carry loads of gear any more and I was getting comfortable enough as a rider that I wanted something that could still tour but would let me have more fun in the twisties, too.

Literally the day the insurance company said they were writing off the old bike, we found the ad for the brand new 08 FJR for $1500.00 off list...i've been riding the wheels off of it ever since.

Excellent Welcome to the shit show.

Any thoughts of bringing it up to the track? I bet that'd be fun!

Oh, I'll be bringing it to a Track Day, alright!

I'll be riding it up there with my wife so I can take pics of *her* on the track.

She rides a BMW F800ST and has already done a Track Day (on her previous bike - a Suzuki GSF500) down at Barber Motorsport Park in Alabama.

I like going to the track, I like seeing you guys at the track, I like taking pics of you guys at/on the track....but I don't think *I* want to get on the track if only because I know myself well enough to know I'd push the bike too hard and wind up sliding along the ground.

But we'll definitely see you guys in the Spring!
