What's UP?

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to say hi. I'm a total Newbie, don't have a bike yet, yet being the key word. I've wanted a bike for a long time, and hopefully after graduation it will become a reality. I have been looking at tons of bike to start on. any advice from the group? I really want a CBR600F3 or F4...i have also heard the YZF600's are good bikes. I've found suggestions of a ninja 250 up to 600 supersports as good starter bikes. Bascially, I guess it all boils down to the person. I found this site surfing around on sportbike sites and CBR discussion boards. It's nice to know you all can sympathize with the wonders of the New England weather, sunny and 70 one week, snowing and 30 the next. Must be an awful tease to get the bike back on the road for the summer. I'm definately going to be taking the MSF course, any advice on good/bad locations? West Bolyston or Auburn MA is probably the closest to me. I'm very glad to have found this site and hope i can gain lots of tips. Thanks Everyone

Thanks for telling us about yourself.

Most people in here. Myself included would recommend something along the lines of an SV650(S) for your first bike. The other you mentioned are good as well but maybe not as forgiving as the SV.

I just bought a 92 cbr 600 for my first sportbike and I love it. I learned how to ride street on a Yamaha Maxim 700, it had a more forgiving riding posture to learn with. Still lots of fun though!

Welcome, Daytona

lotsa factors to consider before deciding which is the "best" newbie bike: any prior experience, your size, what you wanna do on the bike, how much $$$ you wanna spend, how concerned you are w/ posing, etc, etc...

you've come to the right place-- these guys have a wealth of experience, and will definitely deal you the straight scoop w/out hammering ya (too badly ) for asking questions.

Hello,
Thanks for the advice so far...my only 2 wheeled experience to date has been of the pedal variety...i'm an avid mountain and road cyclist for many years now. I love the feeling of freedom that it gives and want to take the next step to a motorcycle. As far as size goes i'm just under 6 feet tall and pretty athletic. I sat on an 03 F4i a few weeks ago for sizing purposes and it felt really good, really comfortable. As far as what i am looking for in a bike: i'm not really interested in getting a bike just to do wheelies and stoppies on. i would like something that performs strong and i won't grow out of quickly.(aka ninja 250) The appeal to me is the twisties (once I get the skill and confidence) i would like something that is pretty flickable but also the ability to take some longer rides and not have to worry about gixxer like ergos which will which hurt after a while. As far as posing goes, I don't much care about what others think of the bike. A first bike is just that: a FIRST bike, which will hopefully lead to a much nicer and newer bike which also looks cooler and performs much better. I'm not looking for a really new bike at first because of the potential to drop it due to inexperience...

yup, that'd meet your requirements nicely.

'course, if twrayinma offers to sell you one... keep in mind that it will be delivered in a shoebox
