Well thanks. Friendly place. I just posted over at that valve adjustment thread. Good stuff.

So I'm a new rider, got a year of experience under my belt. Took the MSF course last July...in @#$ brockton (1.5 hours each way), for $250, because the waiting list for the cheaper, closer, NH course was too long for my tastes.

Bought a 87 EX500. Loved it. Rode it all last season. Great first bike. Was going to ride it this season, but I just happened to find a 2000 zx6e on ebay with a salvage title, 2k miles, and only minor scratches on the left and right fairings, and it was right over in pelham. So I looked at it, and it really was in nice condition other than it could use a paint job (or candy persimmon red upper, left mid and right mid fairings, I'm looking every day on ebay heh), no fairing cracks or frame/engine damage. The bidding went to $2750. How could I say no?

Now I love my ZX6e, and my EX500 will be for sale soon, once I give dewinterize it and give it a nice waxing. I may put it for sale here. Speaking of which, I have extra (brand new) ex500 brake pads, battery, clutch cable, and front rotor for sale which the 87 doesn't need, so if anyone needs those parts, email me.

Thoughts on the ZX6e...it's nice. Kind heavy. Comfortable. Engine seems to pull strongly (of course, it's several generations newer and sportier, so it should compared to the ex). Front suspension is my only complaint. It's mushy, and it dives too much under braking. It should be cartridge forks, instead it's damping rod. Reading around, I'm thinking Cartridge Emulators might really round this bike out. We'll see. Can't decide what to do first, paint the bike or install the emulators. Performance, or style? Tough call...In the end, I'll probably do both. As soon as the @#$#@ second winter ends.

Anyway, that's it for now. I'm psyched about finding a place where I can meet other NH riders, very few of my friends ride, and I'm looking to hook up with a local group to ride with, maybe work on maintenance and such with. Anyway, I'll be around. And my messages will probably get shorter. Maybe...

I take it you're the leader of this motley band of outlaws, Mr. Big Eye? Or, at least, the one everyone seems to whine to when stuff doesn't work. I've been in that position a lot. Can't seem to figure out if that makes me the Boss, or the Janitor.

I like it here. I think I'll stay. Those archived posts in the tech corner are the balls. And I've always wanted a web address on my motorcycle. And let's not forget smilies which proudly consume large quantities of The One True Beer .

Guinness sent me a second wall mount bottle opener. I don't know why, maybe I double clicked the request form. There's already one in the kitchen, so the question is...bedroom, or bathroom?

Either way, I'm gonna need one of those little mini fridges....
