Getting this thread started to chronicle ownership and adventures on my recently acquired SFV2S. Won't go through the rigmarole of what led to this bike, that's in this thread. Short version: target was sub-400 pounds, north of 100 horsepower, commute, spirited street, track days. This will not be a typical precious dripping in carbon and Ti Ducati, if I change/upgrade a part, it's in support of the aforementioned use case matrix.

The ride:
Rider triangle is generous for my 6'2" frame. Relaxed/spacious enough to cover some ground in relative comfort, aggressive enough to exert positive control sport riding. 890 V2 has gobs of torque in the mid-range and pulls hard all the way to redline. Super linear delivery, it's equally happy lugging around or wicked up. Fully adjustable Ohlins suspension does what it's supposed to - I need to up the spring rates this winter, but with adjustments available it's been plush enough for commuting and tight enough for track. Brakes (Brembo M50) are all I need at my pace with both great stopping power and excellent modulation. Electronics package is as good as it gets.

* 3/4 Exhaust - likely going with Spark once they get back from August vacation - need to lose that 15 lb Euro 5 can and make better noises

* Tune for exhaust and filter

Has anyone made the switch (or added them to the arsenal) to compression style armored shirts and pants? Seems like a good option for mixed types of riding (highway, adv, dual sport) which it seems like most of us are doing these days.

I'm kicking around a compression style armored shirt like a Supershirt, Knox Urbane, A* Bionic shirt and then a lighter/ cordua/ jacket over the top of it.

Is there any gear that can do double duty? It would be nice to have a jacket that fits over the padded compression shirt/ pants and that also can be used with normal inserted crash pro into the knees/ hips/ shoulder/ elbows.

There is a mass of information on this on ADV rider but it's all spread out amongst their maze of weirdly named forums that I don't have the bandwidth to follow.

MOTORCYCLIST ARRESTED AFTER POLICE CHASE IN PORTSMOUTH – A Maine woman is facing multiple charges after refusing to stop her motorcycle for a State Trooper on the Spaulding Turnpike.
At 6:19 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Trooper Philip Sheehy of the Troop A barracks attempted to stop a red 2026 Ducati Panigale for a registration violation on the Spaulding Turnpike in Portsmouth.
After the Trooper activated his emergency lights, the motorcyclist was observed reaching back and physically removing the registration plate from their motorcycle, before concealing it.
The motorcyclist then sped away from the Trooper, dangerously passing other drivers while fleeing. The Trooper discontinued his attempt to stop the motorcyclist in the interest of public safety and initiated an investigation to identify them.
The motorcyclist was identified as Alexandra Littlefield, 20, of Lebanon, Maine.
Trooper Sheehy obtained an arrest warrant, leading to Littlefield’s arrest on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Littlefield was charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and falsifying physical evidence, as well as misdemeanor counts of disobeying a police officer, driving after revocation or suspension, obstructing government administration, and violation charges of reckless operation and failure to display plates.
Littlefield was released after posting cash bail pending an arraignment in Portsmouth District Court scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2026.
