i'm very confused by the simultaneous thanking and liking going on here..
That's why. :D Both are a means to express approval and I think it would just make it confusing.

What if I'd like to thank somebody?

I know this will come off as nit picky.. but like is obviously approval, but thanks is gratitude which implies approval, but like is not gratitude..
each has its own value..
yes, I'll STFU now. :ban:
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
Where's the 'dislike' button? I thought that'd be on here by now.

I haven't found a plugin for this yet.

When you do, we need it.

Actually the screenshots of the plugin look decent but I'm hoping to modify the native likes system to include dislikes if it's possible.
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
The Mazdaspeed forum I'm on has a "groan" button with a "NO thanks" area at the bottom of the post. Maybe you're searching for the wrong terms.

Unfortunately the guy that wrote that plugin hasn't been on vbulletin.org in over a year, which means it's unlikely that we'll see that updated for this version. :(
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
the "like" function seems better integrated with the site. that said, i wish it was called "thanks" instead.
i'm no help.
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
Changing the name displayed from 'like' to 'thanks' has to be a trivial code change.
That said, I disagree. 'Like' is more universal. Generally speaking, I 'like' things I 'thank' people for.
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
I think we need a siihp button.
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
Hmm see I see a distinct difference between the two. Maybe it's because I'm a web developer and see that FB is driving the like button which means you like a page or a game or a profile, etc. Thanks should be used for when you are thanking someone for information provided
or for when someone goes out of their way to help others, etc.
I don't mind either way when it comes to the direction you choose, I just wanted to voice my thoughts :D
Yes changing the verbiage should not be too hard but I doubt it will be isolated to a single place where you have to change it.
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
I like, and am thankful that we can argue semantics for multiple pages.
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
That said (and I can't believe I'm writing it)... I agree with Cerberus. 'Like' implies approval or agreement, 'thanks' indicates gratitude. But this is NESR, so who gives a fuck?!

Bwahahahahahahha! :shredder:
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
Likes win by a landslide. :beerbang:
Re: Feature Poll : thanks vs. likes
How do I thank you for this?
