I’m getting antsy for my FE to arrive.
Thanks Steve! I did get a DNK tune. It pulls so hard man!
That FE looks incredible! Can't wait to your pix of it!

Re: New member, another new bike! "intro"
I got it up to 135mph, before the fairing!
Probably do a speed test tomorrow. I got GPS speedometer to see how fast.

How is that comfort wise? Motorcycle news raves about the comfort, but the bars still look pretty low.

Totally transformed it. Looks awesome!

I'm old and everything hurts, butt the seat is a little on the firm side. Its doable for sure. You can get quilted seats which should be fine. The bars are semi sport clip-ons (above the triple clamp)
The fairing kit comes with lowering clip-ons, however the stock bars fit perfectly. So if you don't want the more aggressive position your not forced to install them.

Re: New member, another new bike! "intro"
I ran a few numbers through https://cycle-ergo.com/
For the Thruxton, the best they had was the 2017 R. I compared it to my Current Yamaha Tracer 9GT and the 2007 VFR I took cross country in 2012.
Seat Height:
Thruxton: 32.0"
Tracer 9GT: 33.5"
VFR 800: 31.8"
Forward lean (for me at 5'11", 32" inseam)
Thruxton: 27deg
Tracer 9GT: 0deg
VFR 800: 26deg
Knee angle:
Thruxton: 78deg
Tracer 9GT: 82deg
VFR 800: 72deg
Hip angle:
Thruxton: 69deg
Tracer 9GT: 102deg
VFR 800: 68deg

The Thruxton and the VFR are very close matches. The big difference will be father time. I was 52 on the VFR, I'll be 64 on the Thruxton. My plan, which will never happen, is to lose weight and strengthen my core. The vastly more likely plan will simply rely upon Advil.

Are you keeping the Tracer?

certainly wont happen with that attitude. Why not start small, improve small portions of diet and throw in some exercise and hopefully build on from there. Like walk an extra block each day and do a few minutes of calisthenics or something?

I am keeping the Tracer, for now. It's probably better suited to multi-day trips, but that is subject to change after I've ridden the Thruxton for a while. I'm hedging my bets a bit until I get a better feel for my personal range with the Thruxton.
You're absolutely right about my attitude, but I was really just making fun of myself. At 64, 5'11", 210 is not great, but not terrible. I really do want to knock that down to about 190 and about half of that is "winter weight" that tends to go away when I start running more regularly. The "core" would be better if my "sit-ups" didn't consist of sitting up to go get a beer from the fridge. ;>)

Steve, National has a low mileage RS right now used.

Yes, and there a few others around. I, being a smart guy, am going to pay $4k more money for the exact same mechanicals, just in the FE all green livery!
It’s an indulgence, even more so than motorcycles already are.

I know I can do it, but you also have multiple bikes and I'm sure there are days when you choose the "comfiest" option...

The "comfiest option" right now is the Tiger Explorer. Which if all goes well, will be sold in a few weeks.
Other then that, the other 4 all have clip-ons in various states height. The Thruxton has the tallest.
1. Thruxton
2. Street Triple Moto2
3. Speed Triple RR
4. Daytona Moto2

The Thruxton is so sick, you ordered a new one? When do you expect it?

The FE is a beauty for sure. You pay a little extra but if you're a fan of the Thruxton and want the Final Edition, you pay! 😉
My Ton Up Special Edition was $17,300
