Hello Everyone Glad to finally be here

Hello everyone. I stopped by Cycle gear in Manchester Ct this summer and they handed me some info on this site. I took my time in signing up because the weather was nice enough to ride but now that its cold out I have a little more time to work the laptop. When I got the info for NESR I also got a pamphlet for Tonys Track Days and while researching track days I found your thread for the Palmer Race track which made me happy. I live close to Palmer so I would love to have a track that close to home. My wife and I are both avid riders and spend as much time on 2 wheels as possible. I hope to both supply and receive much usefull information on the message board.

Welcome, and if you live in Worcester, you're also close to the CT track - which comes online around July of next year.

The Palmer track is slated for end of next year, but I'd be (pleasantly) suprised given the tough conditions (lots of rock blasting)

This, you definitely joined at the right time of year for entertainment. I also have an SV650S (05) and my husband just picked up an 04 R1. I have been casually bike shopping for about 4 years but can't find anything that tops the SV for versatility. You'll find there are a lot of trackday (and race) junkies on this forum and they get pretty punchy after the tracks shut down for the year.

Keira, I'm going out of my mind not riding this fall. It'll be another 3 weeks with the brace on before I start PT. <sadness/>

Re: Hello Everyone Glad to finally be here

Sorry they were out of condoms but I did get a flyer with all the track days info. I am really looking forward to doing a few track days with my wife and a friend of mine who has a 1st gen sv650s. I heard about this site from the same girl at Cycle Gear so I think she may be a member. I love the site I am still learning how to navigate thru all of the different threads. I keep loosing this one and when I find it again there are more replies! I think its great how friendly everone is on here.

I actually live in Southbridge Ma and I am looking for sum folks to ride with around here. I have been riding mostly in Stafford, Ashford and Tolland Ct this season as there are plenty of really curvy mostly empty farm roads out there and not too many police. We tend to ride at a sane level but sometimes that level is beyond the posted limit. The back roads we ride are really pretty empty (especially early Sat&Sun morn) so we don't get caught behind too many cages and our biggest worry is the local deer population.

CsMutty and GearHd6 I will be riding later today (Saturday) with my buddy in Ashford and Stafford. We will have to get together next season and do some riding I would love to learn some more areas to ride around here. I grew up in Enfield Ct and all the areas I used to ride are now an hour or more away.

Re: Hello Everyone Glad to finally be here

Did a great ride today never enough. I adjusted the sag/preload on my sv today and what a difference! I put a ninja 600r shock on it when I bought it but never set it correctly. I think it is much better now but the forks really suck. I changed the oil this spring with 20wt and it has progressive springs but it will still bottom over rough road and I don't like the feel under hard braking. I wish there was a direct swap for these as I don't want to do the GSXR fork swap. My bike sits really high in the rear and even with the forks lowered 12-13mm in the triples it dosent feel right. I don't want to loose the front speedo cable or swap to a hall effect setup but I guess I will have no choice if I am going to keep it, my only other option is to buy a ninja 300 to race/track day with.

Re: Hello Everyone Glad to finally be here

There are many other options other than fork swaps and shock swaps.

    See : http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...hock-Swap-Myth

Anyway there isn't much you need to do to get the SV track ready. It will be a lot cheaper than getting a 300 and readying that. In the front you can do emulators springs and oil, or a cartridge kit instead of the emulators. In the back, penske is the most used shock, with Elka and Ohlins popular as well.
