New in MA and the U.S. :)

    Hi All,

Moved back to the states 1.5 year ago after living in England for 4 years and Greece for 15. After having my last bike (Yamaha DT125R 1997) stolen in England a few years ago (twice, once at gun point while I was on it)... I just bought myself a new Kawasaki Versys '09 in Blue. Loving the bike, hating the dealership (Brockton Cycle Center...but I'll leave that for my vendor reviews post).

    2 things:

    1) Ill be looking to find out what places are good to go riding

    and

    2) Why the heck does Mass have the worst laws for Riders?
No driving in between cars...I am gonna miss that...all over Europe I could do that...now only in CA
No parking on sidewalks...ok so that's the whole U.S.
No helmet speakers...that's only in MA

It's bad enough we can't ride all year long due to weather (if it aint snowing, I'm riding), but not letting us enjoy it... Oh well. Being without a bike for so long makes me put up with anything now

    So yeah... HI

    Welcome J,

I know what you mean. I wrote this in an earlier post:

I have always like the way our biking brethren in Europe handle the red light issue over there. When I have stopped at an intersection waiting for a light change, any and all bikes go right to the front of the traffic without any issue.

    No bullshit from the cagers.

I know we have all done this from time to time here. But who hasn’t gotten attitude from this?

I would like to see if we couldn’t change that here somehow. I’ve never been popped for it here by the local L.E.

This may sound like a rant, but if you have seen this phenomenon you would know what I’m talking about.

I mean there will be at least a dozen bikes making their way up to the front of the pack at any city intersection.

It makes perfect sense to me.

    Im in Norwood.

As for shitting my pants, I honestly didnt believe it was happening to actually realize what happened. It was one of those moments that feel like an out of body experience . I had a few of those in some of my crashes...hehe.

As for the headphones, I thought of it, but I am worried that if I get carried away with Greek style driving and get pulled over, I dont want to give them more reasons for them to get pissed at me. Ever see riders in Athens?

I will make an online petition when I get the chance and post it here, send letters to local goverment officials...I can be persistent and annoying for that. We can hope it can change. At least like CA.

And its not just the intersections, but in traffic..using breakdown lanes or ideally the loads of empty space between cars...its wasted space .

here is a site dedicated to that http://laneshare.org/ma.htm

Thanx to all here. Now to enjoy my bike I have to get some issues sorted with Brockton cycle center (may I never have to go back there again once this is sorted) and get a full U.S. License as they won't accept a European one. See you all soon

Honestly...you really don't want to know. I have never seen such bad customer service and such a rip off. And I lived in Greece where its like a cultural tradition to rip you off.
