So I don't get ranked on by Kenn157 like he did with Subee13, I thought I'd say hello finally. Kenn told me a ways back to say hello, and I replied that I'd just fly under the radar for a bit. Anyhow, I'd like to get my name/presence out there, so I am sayin' hello.
I started riding on a '99 CBR-600 F4 in 2000. Got my license after 1 week of having my permit. Put over 20k miles on it and then sold it in 2006 to help finance half of the new bike I purchased - My current '06 GSX-R 1000.
I've always ridden with a few friends, either from work at the time or from people I've met while cruisin' the strip. After a while they've stopped riding for one reason or another, or schedules just sucked ass and made it hard to get together.
Last year I started using facebook and found some old classmates from elementary school. A cool part is that one of them happens to ride, and in a group as well to boot. We hooked up and I got to meet the guys that he rides with. Good group. They go out once a week when weather is good, and it's a scheduled event. Same day, same time. I've become a part of the group and try to go when I can. My wife works evenings and it's a flex schedule, so some weeks she's off that night and others she's not. We have 2 small children, so I am not always fortunate in having time to get out.
My riding has been drastically reduced these days. It's just to and from work in Merrimack, NH and an occasional ride on the weekend. Unfortunately, I can't even take the bike to work on any given nice day, because I have to pick up the kids a few times a week after work. If my FIL has to work his second job that night that I have to pick up the kids, I have to take the car instead of the bike. If my wife or FIL is not working, then I can take the bike. So I think that I have taken the bike to work 2 or 3 times so far to date. I know - pathetic. But this is why I have the status of "Deprived Rider" under my name in posts.
If I know of any events/rides far enough in advance, I can usually make arrangements. But when it's short notice, and manage to make arrangements, and then something happens to where the ride is canceled... that sort of shit pisses me right the F*** off -- if it happens more than once by the same person. As hard as it is, at that point I tell my self - no more - despite how much I want to go. It's not worth the aggravation and time if it falls through because of them.
Ok.. If you made it this far... My wife was curious to what the heck I've been typing and was determined to read this. LOL She says, "Wow, you wrote a lot..." She suggested I should just write:
Hi. My name is Scott. I live in Manchester, and I like to ride.
So there it is in a nutshell. Take either version and run with it. Either one works. Hope to meet more of you guys in the future, and for those that I've met already: Great to have met you.
Feel free to add me on facebook if you're there. Link in sig. Just add the note that you're from NESR, so I will know.
