Just stopping by to say hi I live in Framingham and ride an 03 VFR. Looking forward to meeting some new people from the area! I'm also planning on getting my ass to the penguin school on the 23rd - gonna be my first track experience so hopefully I won't be too entertaining

Track day first then Penguin.... Unless you have experience already. Penguin is a race school.

I assumed the racing school would be appropriate for me based on this FAQ description:

"The Penguin Racing School is for competent riders of all skill levels. Before you come to the school you should have a minimum of one year riding experience and have a good handle on all basic riding skills. We do not teach new riders how to ride motorcycles, we teach motorcycle riders to ride better. If you are tentative about your readiness for the track, you should try out one of our track days first to get a feel for it. Although you certainly do not need to be an aspiring racer to take our basic course, you do need to have good riding skills. As a general rule, anyone who has raced anything before (dirt bikes, cars, etc.) should be perfectly comfortable on the track, as well as anyone who is used to riding with other riders on the street."

Regardless, after speaking with a few more people I think I'll end up doing a track day or 2 before I get in the school.

Just to clarify, my intent has never been to steer you away from Penguin School, but away from jumping straight from street riding into racing & open practice.

Although Penguin school may be for competent riders of all levels, racing & open race practice is not.

Do people go from street riding straight to racing and do fine? Absolutely.
But just as a lot of people buy 600cc race replicas as their first street bike and do fine (myself included), it's not generally recommended to all riders.

Other people go from street riding straight to racing and end up with nicknames like "Dangerous". Still wouldn't do it any other way
