New to things that go vroom

I am totally new to two wheeled things that go vroom. Right now I am in college, and I need some wheels! Motorcycles seem to be a decently cheap way to get around, and a fun thing to take apart and put back to gether, so here I am!

Cool. Take the MSF course, buy some decent riding gear, and go find yourself a good 250. (Note: There's a WIDE range of bikes out there. A simple motorcycle like a Kawasaki Ninja 250 or a Honda CBR250 or an older small-ish bike is indeed a decently cheap way to get around, and a fun thing to take apart and put back together. There are also a great many bikes that are quite expensive ways to get around, and are highly complex machines that you won't have any fun taking apart and trying to put back together.)

Welcome! Take Phil's advice and get thineself to an MSF class.

While there are plenty of cheap bikes out there to learn on, try to get some quality gear (helmet, jacket, gloves - at a bare minimum). A lightly used 250 is a great bike for several reasons:
    1) Easy to ride, so you can concentrate on the crazy drivers around you.
    2) They are fast enough to ride on the highway and do almost everything legal.
    3) Assuming you take good care of them, you can typically sell for close to what you paid.

What state/area are you in? Post up if you want recommendations for classes, gear stores, etc.
