You must have a good driving record. After a few tickets and stupid insurance increases, you may reconsider. I did
Doc used to be uber squid.
Now he's uber zealot.
The gear required to do most track days isn't much more than what you should probably have for street riding anyway.
What's a decent 2-pc with full zipper going for? 300 or so?
The other option is to learn about skin grafts. Anyone want to see what happened to a buddy of mine in Cali?
cookie - You may be fast on the street but are you under control during that time? Based on what I'm reading, I truly feel a rider such as yourself would benefit even more from some track time because it really sounds as if you're at the point where street is teaching you nothing yet there is still much to learn.
i picked my 2pc up brand new for 330
mccloseouts has em for under 3

keep in mind man.... its gunna seem like everyone is calling you an idiot and stuff in this conversation. In general, everyone means well. Riding at crazy speeds on the street doesn't make any of us look good, and while the track may be a few extra bucks there are no limits and you'll learn what the word fast really means. There's a reason someone on a girly 15 year old ninja 500 can pass you on you're gsxr 1000. You may laugh, but only until it happens.
If you want to ride on the edge on the cheap, buy a dirt bike.
Other than that lil explanation, have fun and again, welcome to the forum. Just trying to explain how everyone here might seem like dicks but really mean well.
Pretty much. Like Pete says, I used to be a "squid" I thought it was expensive, and I thought I was a good rider and didn't need the track when I could ride the street as fast as I wanted. I had no issues keeping up with my friends on there 1k superbikes and a 60hp Vtwin, even leaving them sometimes.
I went overseas, saved some money and decided life was too short to not "try it" Came back and went to my 1st trackday.
All I can say is WOW... and you will not understand until you get out there.
Standing on the sidelines and watching makes it look easy. "They are just going around in circles, how hard can it be"
Come to a LAPS day. It is the cheapest and I will be happy to show you a "slow" way around the track. I might even have a set of leathers you could borrow.
sounds good guys. i am deffinitly open to learning how to ride on a track..gonna check out buying some leather pants. anyone know a store that sells them at a resonable price so i can try them on and make sure they fit instead of buying from the internet?
I've seen some at brockton cycle. I have to try some on myself.
for what it's worth, I got a full 1pc lightly used Dainese suit on the wera board for 350 shipped. It's a 1200 dollar suit new.
