A "massive" failure? I think the CTS sales numbers alone would disagree. The SRX, on the other hand, yes. Ugly as sin.

Yeah, Cadillac is doing something right with sales up 49% over last year!

I like the new SRX, but it is small compared to the previous generation. The new CTS is a much better looking car, IMO, and by the sales, I'm not the only one who agrees!

Average age of Cadillac owners is 57. That's down from "65 to dead." I'm just not walking into a showroom filled with Escapades. IMHO Cadillac's "Art & Science" design theme, with all its' creases, is a massive failure. And the new SRX a big step backwards.
I know a handful of 35-45 year olds who drive CTS coupes. I knew zero in that age range who drove cadillacs previously.

CTS is a winner by every measure.

With regards to the srx I see a
lot of them around. A lot. Same with escaldaes.

Good news, they attracted some under-65 buyers.

Bad news, outsold by BMW 3 series, 5 series, most Mercedes lines, etc. They sell 3-4,000 a month.

Lets see how the CTS-V wagon does: a vehicle that has every kind of style. Chrome? Check. Monsta Rimz? Check.

Read the article on the v wagon. It's just a concept. Yea they are making them but the goal is not
To sell them, it's to attract people and put the brand on covers. It's working as far as I can tell.

Bah! I couldn't care about the sales of the others. The fact that Cadillac has thrown caution to the wind and produced this thing, that it trumps the Euros in pretty much all catagories and still comes in at a skoash over $60k makes it all the more exciting.

I know they are making it, but it's not being made with the goal of being a big seller. It's marketing.

Maybe last fall...they're already on the road. Sat in one myself at an auto show a couple of months ago. Enjoyed it very much.

Re: 2011 CTS with 556 HP

I've driven a BMW M3 (412 hp) and a Lexus IS-F (414 hp) in track sessions at Lime Rock Park. We were required to leave the electronic nannies on. I'd driven them earlier in an autocross-type course with assists off and they're a handful. Even with them on they're insane as street cars, so another 150hp is beyond insane.

I can understand the temptation by some of the folks at Cadillac to raid the Corvette parts bin to build something like this. But they are doing it just as the market has moved away from conspicuous consumption.

I think GM has done an excellent styling job with vehicles like the Malibu and several new Crossovers. The CTS - not so much.
