We are looking to move off the beaten path a bit. We found a house in Hillsboro, NH that we have taken quite a liking to (and a second and third choice!!!), and the town is just what we were looking for as well. We are really just looking to settle down a bit more into a place where we can make our own and start a family a few years down the road.

well let me warn you about hillsboro. real estate is cheap there for a few reasons. the schools are the worst in the state. high drop out rate, drugs etc.. large trailer park community means well....you know. we currently live in peterborough witch is about 30 mins give or take from there and i was looking real hard in that area but my wife said no way. sucks because i found some great deals there as you probably have.

we are signing on a house outside of keene in a week after looking for months for something like you described, off the beaten path.

I am a product of a school with no accreditation, a 45% dropout rate, and a 13% rate of seniors going on to complete a four-year degree. I am now one year into a Master's program with a 3.95 GPA after graduating cum laude from UNH a few years ago. It is what it is... And by the time our kids that we don't have yet are in the school system it could be totally different. Besides, the trips we have made to the town itself have actually kind of drawn us in, possibly because of where I grew up, and it felt like a place we wanted to be for various reasons. And if it is not, then, well, at least we have equity

I agree, rumors are rumors and acreditation is just an opinion of NEA types to make people feel warm & fuzzy abou their tax dollars at work

Oyster River has always "claimed" to be a great school district, yet they have one of the worst drug problems in the state, they just hide their bad stuff well

I live in Farmington, a towm with a bad rap like Pittsfield, Clairmont or Hillsboro

bad raps are usually undeserved, usually cause the editor of the area daily paper has a hair across his ass or the murderers use uncommon weapons

right on. i have nothing against that area but we have a baby and a 8 y.o. in school so a good school system is a priority right now. there seems to be alot of good property for sale there with water access. def build that sweet equity! i can wait to landscape my own place again. goog luck i hope it works out good for you.
