Today a good friend, my boss and best friends father passed away. He finally lost his 3 & 1/2 year battle with Cancer. I've never seen someone hit with so much and keep getting up to start another battle. He was always upbeat about anything and racing was always on his mind. be it from Go karts to Stock cars. He would find a way to do it. Nothing was ever wrong and "everything will be alright buddy" he'd say. Mike would do what he had to do to help anyone in a bind, and you could count on him for that support.
About 2 months ago, everyone thought he had a stroke. He had lost movement in his left leg and partially his left arm. The Dr's told him he had a slipped disc in his spine. After a few weeks of therapy, nothing was getting better. So he went to another Dr and they did another MRI and found that he had Brain cancer and a cancer on his spine. With the radiation they were able to get rid of the brain cancer, but not the one on his spine.
When i got the call, he was to be moved back to his home for hospice care, i went and visited him. he could barely talk and you would think he was already dead. The next day (Easter sunday) he was talking full sentences loud and clear. a great sign. Today at the office, we got a call to goto his house. His breathing patterns changed dramatically (very fast pace). At about 1230pm he died with his son Randy holding his hand.
I had a grandfather who died of cancer when i was a freshman in highschool. He lived in Florida and I never saw him or the things he went through. Cancer has never scared me till i saw the things my friend's Jeremy & Randy dad has gone through. I owe alot to Mike, he brought me in as a green as could be 21 year old kid and let me do things most companies dont let experienced employees do. I will never forget him. Rest in Peace Mike Burnett

Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I've cared for a terminally ill cancer patient (my grandfather) for a full year before he finally passed. There is nothing more heart-wrenching than to see someone you care about literally be eaten up by this disease. I can personally sympathize with you and the family, and send you and the family my condolences.
Sorry for your loss. A few years ago I watched my best friend's father wither down to a bag of bones. He had a relapse of melonoma that was in remission for over 8 years. It came back with a vengence. I'll never forget the night he passed.

Echoing others' comments... sorry to hear Daviid. It's never easy losing someone close to you regardless of the circumstances, although it appears you have already started remembering what a great person he was, which is the best thing you can do. You were lucky to have known him.
sorry to hear bro...sounds like he was a great man
