Well I've been back since a few days....still tired and still trying to recuperate. Who said that vacation are relaxing?? Why does it take days after you come back to get your house in order and get SLEEP?? I need sleep. I'll go to sleep after I'm done typing this...
So it started on the WRONG foot. I woke up with a bad headache on Thursday morning, became a migraine by the time I got on the plane. I vomit twice in the plane, and while we were landing in Florida, I was standing up in the bathroom, holding to whatever I could so I wouldn't get trown down the floor...ROFL....I missed the landing in FL and was pretty pissed about that. Did I say it was my first time FLYING?? LOL With the GPS, we could know that we were at about 35 000 feet high, and the plane was going at a speed of 526 miles an hour!! At the hotel, I had to stay in, trew up 3 times more, had to call in my physician to get Imitrex prescribed from her to a pharmacy in Florida. Man God went out to drink a few beers with the buddies (the wedding we were going to the next day), and I tried to recuperate, spending the rest of the day in bed.At night, he came back to pick me up, and we headed to the party...
Next day was the wedding on the beach, it was cool. We left early, since we had to do our check out dives the next day so we needed rest.
On Saturday morning, we headed down to Tavernier in the Florida Keys (passed Key Largo), and we went for our first afternoon of dives.......yikes.....jumping in the open Ocean is NOT the same as jumping in a pool, let me tell you. Pool = 8 feet deep, with walls to hang on if need to and a ladder in case you want to get out. Ocean = no walls, the bottom is at least 20 feet down under you, there is tons of critters swimming underneath, nothing to hang on, and the winds were strong on that day, trying to drown me with stronger waves. I paniqued. I couldn't breathe. I started hyperventilating. And my BC was DEFECTUOUS! It was automatically FULLY inflating when I would try to give a little bit of air to it, literally chocking me. They had to replace it. I jumped back in....and proceeded going down to 20 feet deep of water and a whole different world...I had enough trying to calm myself down and control my breathing, so I didn't get to practice any exercices on that dive. Man God's regulator was also defectuous, there was no tie wrap around it to hold the mouth piece to the regulator! He got to see a nurse shark, about 6 feet long, lying at the bottom of the Ocean.
Second afternoon. Went back to do our two last dives. First one, I went down to 50 feet deep...had a hard time equalizing my right ear but I did it. I was more calm, since the surface didn't stress me with the big waves as much as the day before. Because I was more calm, I got to go down, relax a little bit more, and get to ENJOY watching the marvelous sea life that was happening right in front of me....everywhere...colors, fish, corals, all kind of plants, the total calm....total magic. Went back up after half an hour of looking at all this cool stuff. I had to jump again, and this time, I couldn't equalize my ear at all, it hurted too much, I hit my head on the side of the boat...
The rest of our vacation was great. Youhave to know this was my first time flying, but also my first time in the South! Never saw palm trees before! Florida is so different from here.We got to drive around, we went all the way down to Key West. God that place is crawling with tourists! I got to see from up close a cruise ship just a few feet away, they are HUGE. We ate at the Hogsbreath Saloon, pretty good food and cool ambiance. We visited the Ripley's "believe it or not", there was some pretty cool stuff in that museum! We also saw the "0 Mile marker" booey (spelling?), the southest point of the United States! We cooked ourselves dinner with big steaks and shrimps on our grill a few nights...and there was little cute geicos everywhere!! (little lizards) we made breakfast every morning in our little cottage. We got to see the most awsome sunsets EVER. We picked some nice shells on the beaches, specially Sanibel Island is known for the "shelling" you can do there, the beaches are covered with them.
Our trip back was nice, before we took the plane in Fort Lauderdale, we spent the afternoon swimming in the Atlantic ocean in Miami, the water must have been somewhere around 80 degrees! We got to see Miami from the airplane, right when the sun was going down, and all the lights of the city were coming on....amazing. We also went thru a small storm from what it seemed, let me tell you it is pretty scarry to see lightning strikes while you're OVEr the clouds and seeing the lightning under and all around the plane...UGHHH....at the airport, they freaking LOST our luggages! We came home with no baggages, worrying about all our stuff, our scuba equipment, a GPS worth over a thousand dollars, a DVD player, all the souvenirs and our clothes....the luggages came the next day, at the end of the afternoon, while I was driving in Quebec to get back my girls after only 4 hours of sleep. We lended at the airport at 1am, went to bed at 2am, I got up at 7am, drove a total of 16 hours back and forth in one day to bring back my daughters, and went to bed EXHAUSTED. I LOVED my vacation, but I was so glad to see my girls again, I missed them very much.
So yeah....I'm off to bed now...LOL Sorry for the long post....I'll try to add a link for pictures soon.
