Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
Forgot to add that I also picked up my door and frame at the end of last week. I went with a commercial grade steel double door, with a steel knock down frame. I figured by the time I buy all the hardware and lumber to build the doors and spend a day making them...it'd be worth it to spend the extra to just go and buy one, not to mention the security factor. It takes about an hour to install

Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
Well some progress is better than none..
Been screwing off the past couple days, even spent a couple hours today trail riding:naughty
Monday after work, I framed up the right side lean-2 roof and tar papered that section and the main roof. Not bad for a few hours work.
Didn't do anything yesterday, just didn't feel like it...
Today all I did was trim the right side roofs so it's ready for drip edge and roof shingles. I'll probably shingle the whole right side before I start framing the left side.
As of today...

The ladder is to big and I couldn't set it up at the proper pitch so I had to get creative so the bottom wouldn't kick out on me:shredder:

Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
I'm slacking I know, I just can't seem to stay motivated on this project:mecry:
Very little work was done over the weekend, I think all I did was install the doors one of the days, don't even remember which day it was? haha
Commercial grade steel double doors with a steel knock down jamb, strong, secure and built to last. I also went with a 5' wide one this time just in case I ever get a MX quad again, I won't have to turn the thing sideways to get it in and out:naughty
Today after work I was able to get some of the roofing done. I'm hoping tomorrow to be able to roof the top right side after work. After that half is roofed, I need to frame the left side to match the right side, then roof that section.
Progress will be slow as I am working over my sisters house all weekend:mecry: I really need to get this thing done before I can start using it. I also need to make a stone road from my driveway to the shed so i'm not riding my R1 in the mud every time it's damp out. Aaand I still need to cut and split 4 cord of firewood to stack under the right side...does it ever end

Give yourself some credit here...you've done a LOT in the past year...I guess it's normal that you feel like just getting some rest. Plus, that's what you do for work all day so I bet the heart is not always there to be motivated. ;) You've got a lot to be proud of, nice work!

Heat guns work very well when its cold and you just cant get the ice and water to stick.

A staple wacker does to:beerbang:
I got the right side dormer roof shingled this afternoon, finally!! I spent the rest of the afternoon bringing crap inside because of the big rain storm coming tomorrow. Looks like I'm done working on this thing until next week:mecry:

I know the stuff is self healing but why add holes if you dont have to IMO

Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
Well I hadn't planned on touching this project this weekend, but I was able to get in a full day today...at a somewhat relaxed pace. I was a bit tired and sore from re-roofing my sisters house yesterday. I had figured it'd take a day and a half to do the job but we managed 11sq stripped and re-roofed in 10 hours:beerbang:
Anyway, I was "almost" thinking about heading west today for the dualsport ride, but I'd have felt guilty if i didn't get something done this weekend:mecry: The goal for today was to just get the left side lean-2 framed and ready for roofing. I got that done and a few extra things as well. I probably could have started the roofing today as well..but I need a little break from that after yesterday. Trim work for the roof is done and all the drip edge is on, all papered and ready to start roofing tomorrow after work.
Looks like a nice stretch of weather for the next week and I have nothing planned all week after work so I'm hoping to make a lot of progress this week.
Now you can kinda get a idea what it's going to look like. Same plan as the house, barn red siding with bright white trimwork

Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
Mark, is it me or it seems the shed is leaning down on one side?
-
Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
its the grading of the land not the shed being crooked.
Thats a beauty by the way. Coming together nicely

I can't even describe it, it's awesome. Other than the occasional dirtbike or quad ripping up the road, I don't hear much of anything. I honestly hate even leaving the property..I'm sure that will change ina year or so though.. When you stopping by to check it out?

I set all the footings with a laser, that thing is dead level:wink: There is a 2' slope in the landfrom one end of the shed to the other...that's what you're seeing

Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
The nice days we have had this past week has taken some time away from this project in the form of some riding:naughty
The roof is almost complete. All that needs to be done is cut in a ridge vent and cap it, and bend and install all the aluminum flashing around the dormers.
I needed a change in pace today so I decided to start adding some color and installed some siding:beerbang:
Weekend weather looks hit or miss..if it's to crappy to ride I may just suck it up and work in the rain to get ahead on the project:mecry:
Just 1 picture for now..

Stop by, I'll be here all day Saturday for sure. I'll gladly give you a tour of the trails...though I think a 50 may be a bit more of a chalange on these trails than my 525:naughty
Just give me an idea what time

Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood

Mid morning works for me.

I'll see how things go, maybe a garage in ayear or 2 when the finances settle.
The beeramid building has started today...though the problem I have with building those is I end up knocking them over on accident 8 or 10 beers into it:confused::beerbang:

Re: Round 2, almost ready for wood
Good to bullshit with you today Evan. That mini Tard was pretty cool...you shouldn't have sold the big one though:mope::wink:
Well staying on topic, no new pictures for the day but I did make a little progress.
I painted the T1-11 on the right and back sides red to match the siding. I also spent some time working on the overhang trim/soffit, and put the corner boards on the right side as well.
Before I do anything else though, I need to make the ramp from the door to the ground...I had a close call with the R1 today and we both almost spent some quality time on the ground together
