I open the front door to start Tammy's Subaru and there's a dead Boxer Terrier on my front lawn.

The DPW just came and took the body away. There is still blood on my lawn. He looks like he had a serious head trauma. DPW dude says it looks like he was hit by a car and stumbled into our yard. We are right on the main road, so lots of cars doing 45-50 past our house all day.

Just a shitty way to start your day. Very sad.

Will the DPW notify the police or a local shelter? I would hate to be the owner of the poor dog and not know what happened to it.
