Hit a couple good sized rocks today..in fact one of them was the same size as the foundation hole!!
It's a good thing I know a good excavator that was able to locate an alternate area and find a way to peal/chip away any ledge that was in the way.
That rock is mid air on it's way down to losen up the ledge below, very creative jack hammer Bob![]()

I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
similar diggin for my barn, one rock so big my excavator dug a hole and it was all he could do to roll the rock in. it was the size of a dump truck
your a few week ahead of us, mud season has just begun, weight limits on all the roads, can't haul machinery anywhere

My house is about 50' to the left of where I wanted it. It's placed in between two slabs of bedrock. One of them ended up under my garage, and the other is part of the landscape (never has to be mowed). Don't get too frustrated - it's worth it to have your own place.

For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction - and sometimes a scar...
decide where you want the fire pit now!
have him make it with the rocks.
i made mine around 8' wide at the front so i could use the backhoe bucket to clean out the ashes.
i made mine after the fact and it was a pain in the ass.

Oh trust me, there will be a big fire pit![]()
Today went pretty good. A few more hours of pealing ledge..some foundation layout and the hole was done. Bob spent the rest of the day organizing the rock pile and moving the top soil back in a big pile over the first foundation hole attempt.
As of now, the footing is being poured Wednesday and the foundation walls Friday at the latest. Of course this is pending any rain, any rain the cemet truck will never make it to the foundation.
I'll get a few pictures up later..I need to wash the mud off my work truck before i show up for work tomorrow![]()
Thanks again Bob![]()

I guess things like this should have been a sign when i was looking at this property....
Corners and center of foundation staked out.
Couple more pictures from yesterday..
The rough driveway cut in....we had to pull out 18" of clay/topsoil to get a stable base for the driveway.
Starting to bring it back up to grade with stone and gravel

Looks like Stone Hendge..........ancient civilization property must be worth a fortune![]()
Can we dirtbike it yet?
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I've only got about 3/4 mile of trail cut as of now, it's basically a trail around my property line, I don't think it's worth anyones travel yet.
It looks like I may have to wait on the foundation for things to dry up a bit so I may have some time for some trail work this weekend, I haven't been to motivated to cut them yet. There's a lot of rocks so they won't be easy trails![]()
