The woman and I are planning our first real vacation together. We are planning on going to vegas for a week in march, and are going to be staying at Planet Hollywood. Anyone have anything I should know ahead of time, good or bad, either about the hotel, vegas itself, shopping, food, prices? We have been doing tons of homework but it seems to be reviews from the establishments, not nessacarily the real customers. Thanks!

Prostitution is illegal in Vegas.
Any shows you want to see, you should get tickets now. Everything good sells out. Call the Concierge at the hotel and tell them what you want.
I recommend Cirque Du Soleil "O" I'm sure they're all good, but that's the one we saw and it was awesome.
If you're going to rent a motorcycle reserve it ahead of time. http://www.sportbikerental.com
http://www.rent-a-vette.com Is a great place to rent a cool car for driving in the twistie desert mountain roads.
Luxor has the lowest minimum bet Texas Hold 'Em tables and it's a cool place.
Always keep your eye's open. Lot's going on there. We saw a filming of Cops as it was going down and we got 15 seconds of fame on a Monster Garage episode in the Mini Cooper we rented from... You guessed it Ren-A-Vette
Above all else definitly plan on getting off the strip. There's much more cool stuff around, like the "Valley of Fire" state park where they filmed at least one of the Star trek movies. Take hiking gear and always... ALWAYS carry more watter than you think you need.
Fun Fun Fun. I Love it there.

The buffet at the Rio is great.
What are you going for? Is gambling you main priority? Are you looking for clubs?

We are going for the same reason anyone goes to vegas...titties and beer. No, not really, just looking to get away, do nothing but lounge around for a week, not too many kids. I like to gamble, she helps keep me not spend all my money. Think we will take in a show or two, shopping, good food, spa stuff

Do all those rides (three of them) at the top of the Stratosphere casino. Fun stuff like getting dangled off the side of a 1000' high building.
Boston --> San Diego
Just went there for Christmas week. It was awesome! Went to Cirque Du Soleil show at MGM Grand...it was the "Ka" one. I also went to the Eye Candy lounge at Mandalay Bay, LAX at Luxor and Pure at Caesar's Palace. We decided to stay at the Luxor because you can get into LAX for free with your room key. We also heard that Cathouse was a good time but never made it there. I definitely recommend all these places. It was a fun time.
helicopter rides right from the strip. some packages will take you over to the grand canyon, others will just stay around the Vegas area. Def worth it on a clear, sunny day
