Have you had the tranny fluid changed? Valves cleaned? Any of the common issues that are covered by extended warranty?
Tranny fluid changed by dealer during 40k service. Valves cleaned about 2k miles/ several months ago. Intake manifold replaced under warranty by VWoA with most recent part revision at the same time (I had them clean the valves while the manifold was off). The dealer also installed the most recent revision of the PCV valve at this time.
There are extended warranties from VWoA through 10 years service / 120K miles on the DSG transmission, injectors, and intake manifold. In-service date was 09/2009.

Yours had buildup to clean? Mine didn't. Dealer claimed mine looked very good when they pulled the intake runners. Said it did not warrant any additional attention.
'09 is a "TSI" engine. They fixed a lot of issues over the earlier "FSI" engines including the overall PCV design, unless I'm mistaken.
This is also a timing chain engine.
Great cars, if you ask me. I can't bring myself to part with mine.

i'm thinking very hard about ditching my lifted Taco DCSB due to fuel costs and size... i'm planning to downsize to an MK7 (manual trans) with hidden hitch. think i'll be OK towing a small HF 4x8 trailer with one dirt bike on it?

Yup. That setup is probably similar in weight to my old-style Kendon single with an SV on it. You wont even be able to tell its there. Just mind the tongue weight.Originally Posted by typeone

The MKV GTI DSG transmission has a recommended tow limit of 1000lbs with 200lbs tongue weight. The manual transmission has a recommended limit of 2000lbs. I have DSG and tow a uhaul bike trailer and a 480lbs bike with no problem.
