Re: WTT 2003 CR250R for something else...
I'd say the boots fit a regular width foot. They are technically a men's 9 but you might fit into them because I hear the sizing for alpinestar dirt bike boots are bigger than whatever size you run for regular shoes. For reference, I'm a men's 10.5, and they're close, but just a little too tight for me on the toes.
alpinestar tech 3, you're welcome to try them out if you want...and they're an extra set of boots that just sit around, so I'll let them go cheap just go get them out of the basement

Correct.
2 strokes seem louder close up but that's it. A piped 4 stroke may not seem as loud up close, but it will be heard for milessss.

if the suspension isnt leaking, just set it soft and ride.
that's going to happen no matter what you're on ;) tame the 2-stroke, they're really fun.
:plusone: My buddy had a CR250 set up for woods riding, it did really well.

Re: WTT 2003 CR250R for something else...
If you go after that RMZ, keep in mind it needs tires and a clutch lever right off the bat. I'd also ask when the suspension was last done and if anything is leaking. Pics of the sprockets and chain pulled back on the rear sprocket would be helpful as well. Odd to put a new chain and nothing else... EDIT: ask about brakes too
What year is it? Def not 'mint' so I would question the actual quality of service

Same here, CR125 and CR250 in woods trim, both were excellent bikes

Re: WTT 2003 CR250R for something else...
not trying to threadjack secondary to my noob knowledgebase...
but why even bother converting a stock MX-ready CR250 for the woods?
-the suspension sucks because it's too stiff ($800 to service and re-valve)
-the ratio of the transmission sucks (when do you ever see 5th or 6th gear? $100 for chain and sprockets to bring it down)
-the light-switch power delivery sucks (another $120 for a flywheel weight, altered porting by eric-gorr, and possibly different reeds)
-it helps to have bark busters ($60) and a skid plate ($60)
even if he sets up the compression and rebound damping so the suspension is as plush as possible and forgoes the suspension work, he will still be spending close to $400 to make it woods ready
I vote in support of the trade...if you want to stay 2t, consider a KDX200 or KTM woods bike http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/ima...ilies/ride.gif...for 4t, any one of their non-mx models from the big 4 will do
again, total noob here: backyard riding and 6-7 times/year woods riding is all I do...

Maybe you need a different gear ratio if you suck at riding. Stock is fine. And you can get used skid plate and bark busters for under 100. The fly wheel weight is also not necessary.

lighter overall weight = less fatigue. potentially less stalling when you get out of whack, easier to start when you do.
250 2Ts have nice usable power. tune it a bit to your liking and you have a universal ripper that's still happy being lugged around off the pipe.
that CR is definitely capable of doing it all (woods and the occasional track day) without too much fuss.

Re: WTT 2003 CR250R for something else...
Soooo, I'm not gonna get into the trails this summer or fall and I wouldn't mind a jetski to go fuck around on the river on my days off. Anyone got anything for a straight up trade.

great... just when I start looking for a dirty toy, you're giving yours up???
-
Re: WTT 2003 CR250R for something else...
I'm not gonna ride it this summer / fall cause I can't afford an injury so I figured maybe I can pick up a toy to play around with for the next 2 months. If I can't then I'll have it for next year and we can ride of into the sunset then.
