Looks like I'll be keeping it til spring and trading it in for an FZ-09! (or a 08-10 Speed Triple)
(or turning the R1 into a streetfighter)
Great Christmas gift....
Wait until the fix the ride-by-wire on the FZ-09 - I hear it is too jerky. They need new software or something...Looked great at the new york bike show.
From my understanding the A mode is the jerky one, B mode is pretty smooth. I'd go for the speed triple myself but I'm biased.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
I can't believe this is still here, this is a SICK deal.
I have a few lingering potential buyers who keep texting me weekly to see where I'm at on price if I still have it, one being a dealer in Manchester, "motorcycles and more nh", but another who asked for the vin # which I provided today... is there any reason I shouldn't have given him the vin?
3 reasons not to give out the VIN...
1. Something will show up on a carfax type report that you do not want the potential buyers to see.
2. You don't want to sell the bike.
3. You wear tin foil underwear in addition to the hat.
Do you cover the VIN when it's parked in public?
You're all good.
There isn't anything to dislike south of 130 mph. At that point wind gets a bit crazy due to lack of fairing but it'll run out of gear around 145 anyway. It's a blast to ride on a daily basis. Flat torque curve keeps you from having to constantly jockey the shifter, 70 mph 6th gear roll ons are pretty nice. My '13 R model has an upgraded transmission, have heard complaints of earlier models feeling a bit clunky - best solved by a firm foot. Steer clear of '06 - '07 as they have some pretty serious issues with the stator failing.

Finally! Looks like I have a legit buyer lined up... last call for NESR..
If I hold off until March/April/May do you think I could get more for the bike, like say around 7500 because it'll be the start of the season.... or not, because it's now one year older?
I've had best luck selling and getting the money in the spring, so I say yes, you should easily be able to get $7500 for it.
Are you advertising in places other than NESR? Your chances of someone from here buying it for even close to it's actual value, is slim to none IMHO.
It's to bad you don't want an RSV4, I'd work out a trade!
Yamaha
I would hope it sells for more in the spring. If your's won't sell i have no chance of getting rid of my 2010 Fiat edition. These bikes do have really low resale though. Perhaps trying to trade it in will net you more in the spring.
Its because Yamaha gave them away. The 09's and a bunch of the 10's (especially the Fiat), were almost completely stagnant on dealership showroom floors. So Yamaha rebated the shit out of them. I remember selling left-over 09's for under $9000... brand spanking new. There was something like $3000 in rebate money. It killed any hopes of a resale market. A bike that sold brand new for $9k, shouldn't be selling for $7500, 6 model years later...
Its funny how the market is still dealing with the fallout of the bad inventory decisions the Japanese made 6-7 years ago.
LRRS/CCS Amateur #514 / RSP Racing / Woodcraft / MTAG Pirelli / Dyno Solutions / Tony's Track Days / Sport Bike Track Gear / 434racer / Brunetto T-Shirts / Knox / GMD Computrack
cool. Yeah, it's wicked funny..
