Anyone want my '79 KZ750 twin? For free

Hey, I really need to clear some space in my garage and I've decided I'm never going to get around to restoring my 1979 KZ750 twin. It last ran about 8 years ago and has been sitting in a garage since. I think it will run with a carb rebuild and an oil change, but the ignition may need attention also. It had very good compression last time I checked. It will also need a full exhaust, a tach cable, and a steering head bearing. The frame is solid, the body work could use a sanding and some paint. The seat will need to be reappolstered. Would make a good parts bike or cafe project. I have a title signed by the previous owner and otherwise not filled out. I never bothered to register it and get the title in my name, but I can see about that if you'd like.

I have a few spare parts such as an airbox, a new seat cover, maybe some cables and other stuff.

It's free if you can come get it out of my garage.

FWIW - I spent some time with one of those bikes years ago. After opening up the airbox a bit, the bike never ran right again... Jetting attempts for days...

I've heard it's tough to get parts for these carbs and that many people replace them with more common units. There used to be a couple of pretty active Kz forums, but I haven't checked on them recently.

Old school CV carbs are REALLY picky about how the air gets into them. Wanna kill the perf of a 70s to 80s bike? Pull the airbox and install pod filters. Looks like people are using Mikuni VM34s are suitable replacements that WILL breathe through pod filters cleanly.
