Re: CT plated Kawasaki KDX220R
kdxrider.net a few KDX groups on FB too.
big guess here... the powervalves are gummed up ( they do need cleaning every now and then if sputtering stalls/ low RPM) or the water pump needs attention.
if he does break into the carb might be a good idea wot change the mid body gasket which is not part of the normal carb rebuild kit. for that you need to go to a specific vendor ...
you might have 2 issues vs just one impacting this.
Re: CT plated Kawasaki KDX220R
Sounds like a coil.issue. has he run a compression check?
Re: CT plated Kawasaki KDX220R
thanks, team ... last we talked the other night i said to throw a plug and coil in as cheap test. a compression test was my next relay as i do not know when the last top end was done.
i've also read that the coil pickup can be a culprit for these symptoms, saw two cases on TT that were solved by testing the pickup.
he's not an internet guy, or a two-stroke guy, but i'll have to cruise the kdxrider.net forums, forgot about that.
appreciate the coins !! :hellyeah:

fyi... the kdx 220 were known to have grenanding pistons from factory.. need to be replaced irregardless.,..
no internet?!?!?! how does he get porn?
Re: CT plated Kawasaki KDX220R
Hey. I only rode that bike 2-3 times in the two years I owned it, maybe 4-5 hours total, but never had any issues.
Dont think I ever had to do any maintenance other than fresh gas and cleaning it. And I swapped the NiCad battery in the tail bag for the Milwaukee M12.
I assumed the stock 220 piston was replaced earlier in its life because of the Wiseco sticker on the frame, plus it obviously had quite a bunch of hours on from before my ownership.
I really don’t have much experience with those bikes. You can try PM’ing Mike R (theducman) I believe he still owns one and rides it often.
Sorry I’m not really any help

appreciate the chime in! all good, was just wondering if it had occurred before. i'll have to set up some time with him to swill soda and monkey with the bike, last time i saw it we rode HVD together, ran awesome, but mid summer he started having the issues.
i have some good stuff to chase, thanks all!
