'86 EX500 Parts Bike

I picked up what was left of an EX500 from a kid in town. The price was right and I thought I would pass it on. I know some here race EX's.
85% complete.
Good rims, Fork, Triple trees, rims, swing arm. Tank is there as is some of the factory plastics. Radiator is still good. Wiring is fucked, air box is gone, Carbs need a good rebuild, seat is ripped. I'll get pics tomorrow when I pick it up. I'll sell the whole thing for $200.00 or part it out. ( rather sell the whole thing )

Does this bike have a motor that works? I have a coworker that has a 94 with a shifting issue and he wants to get another motor and do a motor swap instead of tearing his apart. If the motor on this bike is good this may be a perfect oppurtunity for him.

Its complete I can't confirm the engine condition except the oil isnt in the coolant and the coolant isn't in the oil. The engine is complete tho with coolant and oil. I don't know mileage either.

Joel, shoot a PM to Daviid... he pulled his transmission out & sent it off to FOG for a rebuilt one. FOG is THE MAN for EX transmissions.

I am the co-worker that Joel told you about. I need to give it some thought, I was hoping for something a little more recent and that I know will run. But I have not found anything yet.

Do you have a handle bar and the break (foot) pedal? My centerstand melted through the hot top at work and the right side handle and break pedal are both bent. Both still usable, but the accellerator sticks.

By the way, is the upper cowling in decent shape. If so what color is it?

If I decide to buy, the best time for me to do the deal would be next Wednesday evening because I will be meeting my daughter in Lowell for supper. I could meet you around 6-6:30.

Damn. Well I do have one lead on a set of 17's with rain tires, but it's a tough bargain! We'll see what happens after I check the bike out, and if I end up bringing it home.

Actually they were 17''s.. they must have been converted. They are gone tho.
