Looking to pick up an adult large chest/back protector. Something to minimize damage when half of you guys run me over @ Southwick after I crash. Took a quick look on ebay, going rate for a decent one with the arm protectors (what are those for, anyway? They don't look like they'd help much, except maybe with branches in the woods) is about $50 once you throw in shipping and whatnot. Thought I'd ask here first.
I have one of these in large with 5 plates in back I can let go for 50 if you want to come pick it up.

Ive worn it twice. Once on the race track and once dirt riding. I didnt like how it felt so I went back to the more traditional set up.
Looks like a killer deal. Unfortunately the 5 plate is said to fit 5'0-5'5 on that site, and I'm 5'10. Otherwise you'd have a deal (although I may try to persuade you to bump the price a bit and mail it, as Mansfield is a bit of a haul). Even having to go get it wouldn't exclude a deal, but me being 5" taller than it's max height sort of is.
Appreciate the offer all the same. If only it were taller...
Curious, since I have not worn upper body protection since I was 13, what didn't you like about the feel?
Its worth the trip. You can come meet me and Pete at the bike shop in Bellingham. You know that fun loving suspension expert from a few forums above this
I didnt like the feel of the back protector while on the street bike. I was used to riding a bohn and it fit a little different. I couldnt make the switch. Off road that wasnt much of a problem since the riding position is different. I already have all the other gear so theres no reason to swap over.
I suppose it couldn't hurt to try it on, if it fit ok and just didn't extend down as far as it could, it'd still probably cover at least as much back as a normal chest protector. How tall are you? When are you guys at the shop in Bellingham?
Im 5'6 and one of us is at the shop each weekday. Im usually gone by 11:30am on weekdays. I can be there weekends as well easy enough. If I am Im usually working on my stuff which Im going to go and do in about 20-30min.
It might be a bit short for you. If you have other business to deal with Pete about then greatI just dont want you to waste a trip down here for something that already seems like it might be a little short.
Yeah, I don't have any other business out that way, so it would be a couple hour trip, which does seem a little excessive for something we expect to not fit anyway. If I find another excuse to head out that way before you get rid of it I'll let you know.
James, if Dan does not want it, it will most likely fit me and I'd be interested in buying it. But Dan has dibs
It is 2 hours away from me, and based on the manufacture info probably won't fit anyway. McBiggety, it's yours. Thanks.
Meanwhile, if anyone else has one, I'm still looking. I need something to protect me when Biggity runs me over at Stimilon after I stack it up.![]()
Please, if anyone is going to be runover, it will be me.
James, I can probably head down to the shop on the second week in April (first weekend I have off in a while).
I would advise that you do get one. I always remove the arm gaurds. They are a pain and do nothing except block a little roost. You want the protector to be a ridgid plastic and be front and back. The biggest need for a protector is to save your spine in case you land on a rock or get hit while you are down. I have an old Fox that I like, but I have not looked at any new ones in a good 10 years. Not sure what is out there now.
I have a thor one I'd sell you. It has a sixsixone neck donut attached to it as well. The chest protector is clear/black
$40 with the donut
