Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
Headbearing in, exhaust springs, exhaust painted and installed... i just HAD TO TRY AND START IT...
AND SHE RUNS LIKE A CHAMP!!!!!
Now, all I need is the clutch cable, hand controls (new levers), brake cables, and the chain re-installed.
SO pumped. And she doesn't look half bad either.
One last little "fixie" issue, is the petcock leaks like crazy. New rubber gasket and valve gasket is on order.
Remember this???

Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
Wow... spending a couple minutes looking at before and after...
I think I made it too pretty for a woods-bike... she's gonna get SO muddy.

Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
No lights? That would make a decent little commuter bike. It is probably better suited to that kind of use rather than dedicated dirt duty, IMO.
Nice job, though!

Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
Just for giggles, paint up the original fenders and pop em on there. I think it would look great with the red stripe on the rear fender as well as the tank. Front and side number plates (vintage oval) would look killer also.

Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
lookin' good! great job with the restore :hellyeah:
+1 vote for vintage fenders, bars and number plate/light. throw some DS tires on it and you have a great little around-town bike.

Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
I'm thinking there's only going to be two incarnations of this bike while I own it...
1. All dirt.
2. Cafe Street bike.
No DS bs. It's an all-or-none. :)

Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
Nice work!
Oval number plates and the stock fenders will be very cool!

Re: 74' MT250 Restore:
Ok... so here's the thing.
Oval number plates are out, for the sides... too much modification to the frame needed to mount them (CR250M plates are the only ones that would remotely fit).
However, I am planning on modding a stock OVAL front plate to receive a 'hidden' headlight.
Last but not least for this weekend:
-Petcock seal and knob gasket
-Rear brake cable.
-Final torque on all bolts.
-New levers.
-Exhaust flex-joint gasket.
Finally... re-visiting the rear fender. Possibly considering original w/red stripe.
May have to hack up the frame (again) to weld rear-loop back on.
