Previous owner told me it had a Rekluse EXP 3.0, I even have a copy of the Craigslist ad some place. After I removed the clutch slave cylinder cover I was surprised to see a stock KTM slave, as almost all EXPs and Core EXPs use the billet Rekluse slave.
Pulled the clutch cover and saw a nice, oily Z-Start Pro. Sigh.

I love the Z-start! I have an exp 3.0 on my current 300. The Z-start worked better usually, though I don't really have any problems with the current setup, the z-start was always perfect. I had one in my 05 300, before I got the current '15.
It's a real love/hate item. Personally I love it because of the option to LHRB. That is the balls when riding hard enduro. I like the rear brake on the hand so much that I may throw a thumb brake on my motard for LRRS.
I'm just annoyed more than anything. On one hand, annoyed at myself that I didn't do the research before I bought the bike; if I'd have checked for an adjustable slave cylinder that would have thrown a flag as only a fraction of EXP users retain the stock slave. On the other hand, annoyed at the seller as I don't think this was an accidental oversight.
The idea of a LHRB intrigues me. A guy on KTMtalk has offered to sell me his one (used) for $150... there have certainly been times, probably on account of my lack of experience and poor body position, where I've wanted to use the rear brake but my feet have been in the air or otherwise off the bike![]()

Off the bike? Uh.. stop doing that!
My problem is I so very badly want to be on my toes. Also I feel like I have zero dexterity and feel with thick, heavy mx boots. I don't feel like I have any finess with the rear brake lever and often my foot isn't where it needs to be on the peg when needed.

Eh. I continue to experiment. So far the winning position is left foot toe on the peg, right foot smack in the middle covering the rear brake. Move the right foot back and I feel I have better control over the machine, but can't rear brake. Move the left foot forward and I start accidentally snapping downshifts mid bump. Found neutral about 48482 times yesterday.
Anyone riding in MA Saturday? I was originally planning to drive my GF to Pittsfield and then go riding around there, but just found out I only need to pick her up around 8:30pm. HVD would seem to be an option.
Friday afternoon/evening at my place in Rehoboth if anyone wants to come down and turn some laps, possibly bushwhack a new loop.

Depends on how you get here. From North of Providence I95, you can circumvent the traffic via Attleboro/Rehoboth back roads, GPS knows it. Coming down 146 shouldn't be bad until you get into the city, 195 likely to be jammed.
Just so y'all know, I currently have 1 loop and until it gets some traffic and some berms pushed up, it's not going to satisfy an advanced rider. I have a few trail off chutes and I'm fairly certain 2 of them connect into another long loop, but it's bushwhack city. I can drive the golf cart out there with chainsaw and make quick work of a few bothersome trail blockers, but it's an unknown.
It'll definitely be a nice place to ride, but it needs traffic. And wheel spin. I'll be riding tomorrow until dark, you guys are all welcome.

I'm going to aim to leave work by 3 (so home at 3:06) and head out first with my golf cart and saw. It shouldn't take much to clear a few sections of downed trees. If you'd like to come play, pm me and I'll give you the address. White farm house on the corner, park by the barn.

I'll try to get out a little early, but not looking good. Probably see you around 5:30. I don't need a plate do I? Mine got lost in the mud somewhere.
Nope, no plate needed
