Buy the good boots. not the cheap ones , the more expensive ones tend to be put together better and offer more side protection especially for the ankle.
I had a pair of mid level oneil boots they were roughly $139 but as I found out the hard way they didn'y have much padding in the ankle and the plastic side plate only went 1/2 way up the boot on the outside so the seem seperated.
I was riding last weekend in wrentham and tooling along a big rock pulled my foot off the peg and slammed it into the passenger peg on my Drz ( which by the way I am removing to prevent this from happening again)
It tore a 1/4 " size hole on the leather and made my foot go numb. I kept riding as it started to feel better, until about 1/2 hour later it happened a second time only seperating the boot at the seem. A few advil and I was able to keep riding. But man did that hurt.

Sean, the Tech 8's are nice. Good ankle support and they feel like gloves now that they're broken in. They are still pricey, but might be worth it. I have also heard some very good things about the Oxtar boots.

I ended up getting the fox forma pro boot. the bubba stewart model. With all the falling down he does I figure they should be good for my interactions with gravity. The are last years boot so instead of $259 they were only $139. I'm still a cheapo at heart.
They came today as a matter of fact and are quite stiff, they definately need some breaking in.

i got the forma pro's for 139 as well... they didn't quite fit my foot perfect when i first got em, but they're breaking in really well... i've already taken a few hits to em w/ rocks & big fuckin sticks & they're holdin up well.

Cool I can't wait to try them out.
Turned out to be an expensive ride for me. Not only did I trash the boots and my foot. I finally got around to washing the bike today to discover under all the caked on mud, a leaking crack in my clutch cover. SO thats another $100 with the new gasket, o ring and shipping.![]()
All great fun though........................
Where else but dirt riding can you have your motorcycle fall over on both sides a couple times in a ride get injured and wreck some gear and still get out of it for $239
Try that on a sport bike.....................

I've been wearing the Forma Pro's all season. I found them extremely comfortable right off the bat and they've held up nicely. I'm not 100% stoked on the buckle system, but it works.
