    - Continental Twinduro TKC80
    - Shinko 700
    - Dunlop D605
    - IRC TR8 Battle Rally Series (starting to go more dirt but still pretty street)

    I don't know why this post got so much flak. There are plenty of solid options out there for a lasting street tire that works in the dirt. The question wasn't about a dirt tire that is street legal, it was about doing a lot of street riding and mellow offroad riding and a tire to suit it. You'll want to look at more dirt orientated ADV tires, as opposed to dirt knobbies with a DOT label on them (which I run, and don't last at all)

    Shit on a CRF250X with any of those above tires you could ride A LOT of gnarly terrain. I rode on of the hardest dual sport trails in the Eastern Sierras on a big pig of an old style 'red' Husqvarna "dual sport" (seriously it was basically an ugly upright streetbike) with tires less dirt orientated than the ones listed above.

    I read it as one weekend long dual sport trip without much info on the terrain or riding style. My dual sport came with 50/50 tires and I rode them until (mostly) used up. While they get the job done, I'd argue a more dirt oriented tire may be more enjoyable and cost less, even if it might be overkill. I did 650+ dual sport miles on my Kendas and wouldn't hesitate to do the same trip on them again. I can't imagine there will be a ton of road miles on a CRF250X long term.

    Knobbies are miserable on the street so unless you're trailering to the trailhead I'd avoid that at all costs. I did 40 miles of pavement one day after a one way desert route (had to loop back around on pavement roads to the trucks) and it was torture.

    Proper DOT knobbies are (imo) for connecting the trail dots or scooting around town at below highway speeds. Plus pavement riding destroys the knobs.

    well can't I project an anecdotal personal experience that doesn't apply to you to your situation?

    400 mile dual sport day...pavement, desert, pavement, home. 240-250 mile all pavement days on knobbies.

    TKC80's are a pretty good street-ish tire.

    the 606 rear is freaking great for a rear DOT knobby.

    just search ADV rider...there are countless upon countless threads discussing DOT tires on dual sports
