for the machine anyways Did some ice riding on a local cove today after work, what a killer time There was about 3 inches of snow and kinda a weird type of ice below that that made for some awesome traction. Had so much spray and roost, all i could taste was the salt from the ice I gotta get that quad to the power washer and clean it off.. Little tricky getting on the ice with the tide going in and out and the huge ice chunks it leaves to climb over, but sure was fun
Not sure how legal it is but we didn't get bothered

How much was he asking for it? You're as fussy as i am when it comes to your shit being clean, a clean bike/quad is usually a well taken care of quad I've looked at a few used quads in the past, i can tell before i even get 10feet from it weather i'm going to buy it or not. I will waist their time and at least take it for a spin tho
It's gonna be tough to get a good clean, well cared for machine for short change. I took a major beating on my last shee, traded the blue bitch in on the YFZ for 3.5k, and it was a 03

yep, sounds like a real peice of shit for that kinda money. You can get a brand new one for $5,300 (thats what i got my 03 for) maybe less so keep that in mind when shopping. I can hook you up with some dealers whilling to deal on prices if thats the route you want to take

Yeah, most banshees do have a low end bog, it's pretty common even when they are new and stock, it's the nature of the beast It can be sorted out fairly easy though but dont expect to lug it around at low rpms

Might go look at a 2001 Polaris Scrambler 500. Any info? I do like the fact that it is a 4-stroke and on the quiet side, I could take it hunting and on night rides without attacting much attention.

    Wait a minute, you're going from wanting a 380lb sport quad to a 600 lb sport/utility quad?
I think the 00 or 01 500's had auto clutch probelms and there was a upgraded part for it, you may want to check that out

The problem is that I want the sporty bike like the Banshee but I dont want the noise and maint. that comes with a 2-stroke. I would rather a 4-stroke quiet sport toy. I am also looking at the Honda 400ex.

Quiet, 4-stroke, and sport just doesn't work together

There's much less mainenance with a 2-stroke than a 4-stroke IMO. Keep the crank case oil changed (no expensive filter to change) and use a good quality 2-stroke oil and it'll last long long time. My first Banshee i bought used in 1989, it was a 87, i rode it just about every weekend for 4 years without even touching the engine, well except for 1 new clutch set

I had a 02 400ex it was... well typical Honda just blah and boring It was a well suspended little focker but didn't have enough power to put a smile on my face
