    Plushness

Woot, I got my suspenders back from Kates. They feel sooo much more plush even off the bike. Anyway, the shock was no sweat, but when I tried putting my front wheel on, I had trouble getting the axle through the far side fork bottom. Everything LOOKS lined up perfectly, the spacer seats flat against the fork bottom, but the axle binds. I can insert it from the outside and it's smooth as butter, but when going through the wheel... bind.

WTF? I think this bike is straight. It has had only one big crash, and that didn't seem to tweak the front at all... Maybe I'm just not holding the wheel straght enough? There's still free play in the first fork bottom at theis point, because it's a stepped axle...

hey paul, guessing you may have tried this, but have you run the axel through both forks without the wheel on. may not hurt to loosen the triples a touch, run the axel through, give it a wiggle and tighten the clamps.

check the inside of teh wheel is lubed well, and if there's a spacer between the bearings that it's not cocked or jammed. Should be able to see it with a flashlight, or feel with your fingers.

Did you check the spring preload before you installed it? UPS screwed up their delivery and didnt drop it the day they said they would. I had to give Suzanne a crash course on installing a spring since I had to bail for my job that I make money at I thought she was going to cry.

^I agree...I just had a horrible time getting rear wheel off my kx this winter and then I remembered it was on for months (including getting stuck in a river) and had to hammer the shit out of it...like almost all the way through the wheel, not just a few hits. Shit was all dry/bound up but ran fine

I looked at the preload. I'm not sure where you guys intended to set it, so I left it. I've read different things about where to start with preload on these springs. 6mm being the most persistent advice. But that's like next to nothing. I think it's at like 18mm right now. I'll go through the whole sag setting process and see where I land.

I guess this bike need a lot of static sag, like 45mm. Rider sag around 120. This supposedly helps the headshake issues.

I might go to mototown this weekend to try it out.

Do you know if the clickers are set to a baseline? I've never just had toe works done at once, so I'm not sure what Peter does in that regard.

Pete did set them but Im not sure to what. I didnt see any notes on the bench when I was there last. They didnt get touched by anyone after he had set them so figuring out what they are shouldnt be too hard.

OK, Yeah, I'll just write down the current settings and go from there. The fork action felt really nice just compressing them against the ground.

I noticed on my KTM, the front axle fit is very snug as well. Did you know about the little 10mm head inside the front axle? Once you take the axle nut off, there's a 10mm head inside there...I think it's plastic? This is what I use to get my axle in and out. Just put a socket on it and turn it in either direction adding pressure in the direction you want the axle to slide...take the wheel off, add in pressure to the socket/ratchet while turning it..to put the axle in, add in pressure to the end of the axle (at the large hex end) while turning it.

No, I always wondered how they expected you to get that hollow axle out. I think mine is missing, because i've had my fingers in there trying to get the damned thing out...

Anyway, It was just gummed up a bit on the axle and in the boss. All's good.
