I finally got the chance to watch the video. A very emotional plea to be sure. It convinced me that supercross has probably gotten a little more dangerous than it needs to be. Why do the doubles and triples need to be so brutally unforgiving? I like watching the huge air, but I don't like watching people get paralyzed. Just reshaping hits 2 and 3 could go a long way to reducing those head first, neck snapping injuries.
It also convinced me that we ALL are part of a cult. We hide from or reduce the truth about risk with almost religious zealotry. I feel like my accident on the street this fall woke me up from a bit of a stupor where I felt invinceable.
do you think this one will be too bulky to wear on a dirtbike? This is one of the the most protective looking foam type i've seen & is also one of the least expensive. Think i'll order it up & find out for myself.

That looks similar to the EVS deal. I know I'd be overheating with either.
Evs Neck Collar
Those foam collars look like they'd help with preventing collar bone inuries moreso than any spinal type of trauma.

I am looking in to the leatt brace right now. it is $$$ but it stops every impacted but the one were you land on your head upside down. I think I am going to get one. I would rather be safe then par. or dead......

Yeah, the chest protector interference would be a deal. I've been looking for alternatives to the typical, full chest protector. But most of the jacket-type setups look too restrictive to air flow for all but the coldest of days. Maybe the armoured jacket and some fully vented gear? But that lets the mud in...

Yeah, I'm not impressed with my EVS jacket thing either, and will keep looking.
I'm trying to figure out a way to make a similar thing that I wear on the track from Impact Armor.
I also ordered some padded shorts, and once again... disappointed. The thigh pads are stupidly small, as are some of the others.
grrrrrrr!!!!
On the plus side, my Leatt Neck brace arrived and seems very well built. I've ridden around the block on my CBR and it was unnoticeable. Haven't tried it on with my leathers yet, though.
It definitely seems fine for any kind of more upright riding though (dirt bikes, standards, etc). We'll see how it works on the track.
Since it doesn't actually touch your neck anywhere, it doesn't seem to be a heat issue though. (meaning it won't make you warmer)
I did a basic comparison with my helmet on and with and without the neck brace. You can really tell how it would limit your neck movement, but only the more extreme stuff... not what you would normally use while riding.
I'll have it at the track days for anyone that wants to see/try it on.
