weather perfect and scenery pretty epic on the way out, walking in to hear Roger DeCoster over the loudspeaker set the day off right! not to mention the other old skool "Legends and Heroes" that were there for the tracks 40th anniversary and 2-stroke invitational like Tony D, Jimmy Weinert, Johnny O'Mara, JoJo Keller, Jeff Emig, John Dowd, Danny LaPorte, Erik Kehoe, Mickey Kessler, Mike Fisher, Broc Glover, etc.
as i walk in further, i see this giant, beautiful, natural dirt ribbon of pure motocross sex.. .
pics dont do it justice, the track winds EVERYWHERE with TONS of sweet spectating spots. i took a camp chair and just walked little by little around the whole track all day, setting up in the shade for a break now and then.
here's a link to my un-edited shots on Flickr as a slideshow, some are OK, i wanted to watch more than shoot. got some pics of the vintage iron they had on display too. turn off 'Embiggen' in the Options menu, look a little better, didnt upload the highest res

the 2-stroke invitational was a riot, Dowd SMOKED the other old-skoolers. so crazy to hear all 2-strokes out there, they were silent compared to the 450Fs of today! ah the smell too!

awesome dude, I have always gotten that feeling even when I showed up to a local southwick race and you just see the groomed track in the morning winding through the trees and everywhere...totally badass

sweet. Such a nice looking track!

My boss went there, he said it was awesome

no bike
i was hoping the retro 40th thing would have brought out lots of style history but not many racers followed through. some neon pink and zebra stuff here and there but no green Kawis with orange seatsred Honda engines and gold rims would have been sweet too but prob too much effort.
Ivan Tedesco was done up pretty good with retro red/yellow/orange/black Fox gear, classic Oakley goggles and silver-painted Honda. few other racers had the same Fox gear on

Very cool! I caught the second moto on Speed. I'd love to go checkout the race in person next year.
I was at Moto Town a while back and John Dowd was there with his son......WOW! It was amazing how fast and smooth Dowd was!
can't embed this but here's a good recap. Pourcel was fucking FLYING in the 250 class

yeah, everything about the track just looked dreamy. difficult, but soooo dreamy.
as usual, pics and spectating make the surface look mellow but on track was really rough. a few racers mentioned over the loudspeaker in interviews how rough it was. some of the ruts were crazy deep, i was completely mesmerized watching riders take different lines as the ruts got deeper and deeper. really cool to see someone carve a new line the next lap and gain time, sometimes hopping the gap, cutting the corner differently.

Talked to a buddy of mine that raced (took 22nd of 43) this past weekend. said he rode like shite but the track was the best he's seen it. He said something to the effect of 'riding that track was like discovering a new way to have sex.'
Thanks for the awesome pics Clinton. I'll make it there someday ... only to watch of course.![]()

that rocks! wish i knew who he was, could have snapped some pics. what class did he race in? 250 or 450?
they did a sick job of maintaining the track through the day, two specific breaks to bring the dozers and water trucks out.
Robby Marshall (Crow Hill) was there too, tried to grab some photos but his number slipped my mind (455?).

Sweet pictures Clinton, as always. Really nice looking track too. Does it get whooped out pretty quick? Always looks like fun until 15 laps in, and there are ruts taller than me everywhere.
They should call Production Twins what it really is, Shitty McBikefest. Rules for Participation: If your bike runs lower laptimes than a lawnmower, you are not eligibile for Shitty McBikefest. -Darrell

thnx, Alex! track conditions looked simply amazingthe dirt seems too dense to get super whooped out like Southwick sand, but after a few motos and before the maintenance sessions, the breaking bumps looked to get pretty big and certain corners def had DEEP ruts.
Beta 200RR
he raced 450 #23 black on white
