I wonder if you got unlucky and the heaviest part of the tire is at the rim lock.
Ive kind of thought of that after. I think car tires have a dot on the heavy part? Maybe dirtbike tires do too?
I dunno, maybe Im doing this wrong....

Dirty bike tires don't as they aren't usually balanced. In my experience anyways...

They are DOT legal actually. Im sure its fine. Im glad the vibrations are gone. By how much it took to balance them, you can imagine how much vibration there was over 60.

cool vibes are cured ... yeah, it's a chunky knobby so it's to be expected. if the weights end up getting ripped off or you end up trying again, mark the tire at the heavy spot and remount ... those light MP locks are nice but def use the rubber pad, i've had them slip under heavy climbing/braking ... how was the sidewall + bead on that Metzeler to work with? they look stout.

I've been told if you're working hard you're doing it wrong.

Have you ever tried spooning on a tubeless tire with a super stiff carcass, like a MotoZ? The only way to do it right is to work hard. Yes, with the right technique it's not as hard as if you're just muscling it, but it's still pretty difficult if you're not a 300lb gorilla.
Even with a tire machine like the NoMar, it's still a challenge to get the last 1/3 of a super stiff tire over the lip of the rim, even with the rest of the tire in the drop center and plenty of lube.
FWIW if it's sunny out, tossing the tire out in the driveway for 30 min helps a lot as well.

yup, that's all i used to run, they def don't want to cooperate but i've never owned a super long iron or a machine. lots of soap and tiny bites help a ton. warm tire is also key.
i liked that post about 'working hard' but i guess that's the wrong term, tires do take effort, but a lot of people try to bite waaay too much tire. the real trick is getting the bead to seat on top of the rim lock.
