Seriously. For all you seasoned racers and track day guys, how do you deal with this time of year? I absolutely HATE the winter. I don't do winter sports, don't do cold weather. I'm a terrible New Englander I know, but I just can't stand being cold.
I just started the track addiction this past year, and I'm already going crazy. I've been staring at my pictures from the summer, watching vids I took from all the different sessions, and I just want to go ride. How do you prevent yourself from going nuts during the off season? I can't imagine it being too easy for you guys who actually race.

Fight with the liberals on the boards/snowboard.
Check over everything on the bike. And I mean everything. I just swapped out wheel bearings on my dry and rain wheels. Forks ping back in next week. Motor swap this weekend.
Going to homestead in 2 months for the CCS opener. Then VIR in April. Then the NHMS season starts within a week or two.
Ice racing is coming up soon.

Last year I was in your position. I was going crazy thinking about the next time I could get on the track. I bought a bunch of books and a video about track riding technique and when I cot the urge I would read or watch. I also got a dirtbike and this year that has become a bigger focus for me. I plan to spend a lot of time on two wheels this winter getting dirty. Also, the only thing that come close to the feeling of track riding for me is skiing. So in short, track day/riding late spring-summer-early fall. Dirt riding late fall- early spring. Skiing in the winter.

theres nothing we can do about the different seasons other than adapt.
i know it sucks the snow melts (no snowmobiling) and the less fun motorcycle season starts.

I use my front tire as a foot rest because my bike is in the living room and watch a lot of porn on my big ass tv.
Ever thought of a snowmobile? The thrill and fun of a bike without needing a road.

I used to spike up my dirt bikes and trail ride all through the winter, but there are times when there is just too much snow for even that. We bought a couple of 4x4 ATV's and we have a lot of fun with those now. I always thought that RC (cars, bikes, trucks) was a decent, affordable substitute to hold a guy over for the winter. If you live in a city, RC or skiing/snowboarding are pretty much the only options.
We don't like to truck our bikes/ATV's, so it is good to live in the woods.
How about Cross Country Skiing?? I have seen people in the city on these on very snowy days...
I was about your age and I hated winter. I dreamed of Arizona. I would wear maps out. My best friend would beg me to go skiing. I said no. Cold sucks. I had my mind made up.
Finally I took his skis to Wachusett. I loved it. The third time I went I made a parrarel turn. Wow. I went on a bus trip to Mt Snow. Awesome. I skied a lot. I was never cold. I bought good stuff and skiing does use lots of fuel so I was warm. Second season I had a passport and I booked a trip to Zermatt. The Alps. Wow. More skiing. The next year I took Amtrak to Utah. Powder.
The kids came. I got them into it. Then snowboarding. Every year me and the boys would hit the Boston Ski Show and they would get brochures. They would pick out a different area each year and I would find a cheap room with a pool. Great memories.
Today I am living in my fifth wheel at Gunstock. I am a ski instructor. I get paid a tiny bit to ski. Life is good. I put smiles on faces.
Gunstock has free learn to ski week starting. Check out their website.
I urge you to find a winter activity because why live 1/2 your life hating the weather. About October I start to think snow. My outlook changed. Well I gotta go to "work". See you later.

Ride dirty in the woods.
Switch to guitar nerd mode.
Physical fitness/diet.
I actually welcome the offseason. Racing in the woods runs march through dec. I was burnt in October. I need a couple months to mentally check out, go ride for fun, and not think about getting ready for the next one.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
I have. More realistically though I've thought of a dirt bike, but because I'm currently in an apartment complex, space is very limited. Just having my street bike there during the Summer was headache enough.
I've tried skiing years ago. Didn't like it. I'm really just one of those people who hates the cold. Like I said before though, I may be transferring down south mid next year if things go as planned. If not, I'm moving into a house and ditching the apartment. My biggest problem is that I like to work on the car/bike, and without a garage or even a shed, I have nothing I enjoy doing outside. Going to the gym is the only thing that really keeps me active this time of year.

Motorcycle racing is my off season from snowboarding. To be honest, I juggle so many damn activities I'm never bored. When one slows down another picks up.

If you haven't done it yet, go fly some aerobatics. If you have, go do some more.
The track is the only thing I've found that remotely compares to thrill of flying upside down, vertical etc...
