Suzuki's awesome GSX-R 1000 machine has come in for some major updates for the 2003 (K3) model year.
The most obvious change is the move to a new headlight which looks similar to that used on the Hayabusa. Also looking different and maybe larger are the ram-air intakes.
More firm details will be released late this week but we believe both the forks and swingarm have come in for changes.
The changes we can confirm at this stage include a move to race style 'Radial Mount' calipers. While the mounting system has changed to that normally only seen on MotoGP and World SuperBike machines the calipers themselves are new. Gone are the 2002 (K2) 6-piston calipers and in their place are smaller and lighter 4-piston calipers.
Disc rotor size has come down. The (K2) GSX-R 1000 came with 320mm disc rotors while the new (K3) model has 300mm rotors.
Claimed dry weight has come down from 169kg to 168kg and Suzuki are expected to claim a slight increase in horsepower.
More details later...
