What are these brake piston pliers that you speak of?
(asked 6 days after I finished rebuilding my calipers)

http://www.amazon.com/Piston-Removal...+piston+pliers
Made caliper cleaning a breeze. Rotate, insert or remove pistons without drama.
Now all I need to figure out is what the difference is between FA252 and FA380 pads and I'll be golden. :D

Re: 100 DAYS UNTILL 2014 RACE SEASON
I see... I just used compressed air to pop the pistons out. Takes 3 seconds.

Re: 100 DAYS UNTILL 2014 RACE SEASON
You can rotate the pistons with those pliers? Nice find josh

Sure you can. They grab from the inside of the piston.
What issue would require you to rotate the pistons to solve it?

Cleaning pistons without doing a full teardown in my case. My toothbrush doesn't do a good job when forced to squeeze between the body and the piston. If I rotate I can get all the way around nice and shiny.

Re: 100 DAYS UNTILL 2014 RACE SEASON
I've used 90 deg snap ring pliers, worked ok but those would be really nice.
I'm saving that link.

Easy:
FA380 - FA252 = FA128

Brake fluid... That shit is slippery as hell.

Re: 100 DAYS UNTILL 2014 RACE SEASON
oil WILL destroy all rubber in a brake system

Re: 100 DAYS UNTILL 2014 RACE SEASON
supposedly Brembo has some caliper grease but I've never used it.

Re: 100 DAYS UNTILL 2014 RACE SEASON
Motor is back together and half bolted to the frame. Was in the process of tightening the right side slider bolt when the head snapped off. New bolts for both sliders are shipping out from woodcraft today since I my usual go to spots for metric stuff didn't have suitable replacements. Pretty much stalled until those arrive. I'll finish rebuilding my other caliper tonight and maybe swap the new rear sprocket and front brake rotors onto the wheels but otherwise I'm stuck until the frame and motor are properly secured to each other.

Re: 100 DAYS UNTILL 2014 RACE SEASON
I got the good news that my motor is done and ready to be picked up. Hopefully I'll be playing hokey some day this week and heading down to Souhegan Valley Motorsports...
I'm psyched to pick it up and begin re-assembly but the temps this morning were less than motivating. I saw -6 degrees F on the way in to work this morning.
